Quite obvious what Aulas is doing.

He says he received a bid for 45 million and turned it down, and says if he waits 8 days it will be 75 million. How can he be so sure he will get 75 million...unless he has already received a bid of that amount and agreed to the deal ??

Basically the deal is all agreed, he’s just spinning it for Lyon fans. Over the next few days there will be a miraculous announcement where he will say he’s received a bid of 75 million from Spurs, and Ndombele is leaving.

So if anyone is getting worried about it, don’t be.
I don't think Levy will pay 75 mil for anybody, certainly not Ndombele.

Sorry to be negative but would it really surprise anyone if Levy has indeed bid 45m rather than 65m ?
No, but that's because there have been stories floating out there since pre CL final that we had out in a low bid reports ranging from 40-55.

At this point the only people aren't saying this is done or near enough are JJ and Hugo Delom of LEquipe. Which tbh (and no offense to others you are all much loved) are the ones on this sort of thing I would look too as being the definitive sign a deal is done.

Not saying he's on to something but wasn't one of our recent kit launches involving AJ Tracey? (And was announced at a weird time too IIRC)

That said I'd imagine we'd keep the kit launch and signings seperate.

  1. Aulas is clearly posturing. We won’t have had the amount of noise we’ve had if it wasn’t very very close.
  2. So what if we started at £45m, why is that a stick with which to beat Levy? What if, by starting at a figure £20m lower than asked, he ends up paying £10m less than asked, which presto, is the money that gets as Clarke?
  3. Like many of you I’m nervous as we’ve been burnt before at this stage, but at least based on the information available it does seem unlikely that we’re getting burnt again.

4. We don’t usually get burnt by Aulas at this stage

There are four key components that characterise Stockholm syndrome:

  • A hostage's development of positive feelings towards the captor
  • No previous relationship between hostage and captor
  • A refusal by hostages to cooperate with police forces and other government authorities
  • A hostage's belief in the humanity of the captor because they cease to perceive the captor as a threat when the victim holds the same values as the aggressor

That’s really interesting

In an interview with the French broadcaster, Aulas said: "I do not think that Alexandre Lacazette will leave this summer.

Alexandre Lacazette completed his £52.7m move to Arsenal from Lyon and said it represented the fulfilment of a childhood dream

"Olympique Lyonnais denies an agreement with Real Madrid for a possible transfer of its international defender Ferland Mendy, contrary to what can be relayed by some media."
12/06/19
Real Madrid have signed left-back Ferland Mendy from Lyon in a deal worth up to £47.1m, which takes their summer spending close to £300m.

So, basically, their denial so close to a deal being completed is just part of the show. I am sure there are other occasions but these are just four over the last near-seven years I could think of quickly. Aulas talks, says stuff that may not be the latest position and then the deal goes through. Sometimes same day, sometimes a week later.

I thought we'd been told that we protect ourselves from that scenario now by inserting a clause in the bid saying that once it's accepted the selling club can't speak to other clubs about the player?
Spraying the contract with Chelsea-repellant so to say... I hope we did
