This is a harsh truth that I’ve been coming to this season, especially as Son has had more of those inexplicable matches when he has no first touch and barely gets involved (yesterday). He’s still an exceptional forward but will not have his pace forever and isn’t the most consistent.
On the other hand, if we got £65m for him who’s to say that won’t go directly to young talents at LW like.. the £65m combined for Bergwijn and Sessegnon. Not trusting your scouting is a really shit position to be in for a rebuild, that’s for sure.
yeah, our scouting network is a concern but we're going to have to replace son at some point and I'd rather we had say 65m to do it with than without. if we could get someone like neto then we should do it. we need to rebuild and get younger, it may mean a tough couple of years but we're going to have that anyway if kane goes.
we need to be looking at building our next team, the poch-era squad are done. I'd use this as an opportunity to get better in the long-term rather than wasting it on a futile attempt at hanging on to what we have now. bring in some more exciting young players and give the new coach something to build with.
