This is headlined about Maddison, but most of the video focuses on Richarlison and his woes. Some good points made here.

It's only August. I seem to remember another striker that never scored in August, but can't quite remember his name lol 😂
At spurs richarlison is the opposite of kane. Kane couldn't score in one month. Richarlison cant score in 11.

Everyone saying Ange striker doesn't need to score needs to look at Kyogos record.

The thing with Richarlison is that he’s so openly emotional and it has such an obvious effect on his play. I do genuinely believe the player we bought for £60m is alive somewhere but he’s caught in this transition period where it’s a) adapting to a new position, b) adapting to a new manager and system where he’s the central target, c) the pressure of being the starting striker who replaces Harry Kane.

He’s emotional and enigmatic at the best of times - now? it’s all combined to cause a huge amount of internal strife and it’s clearly having a big mental impact on him and his play.

I don’t really believe we can rely on a player like that to be our striker over 38 matches. But I do believe that Richy can still come good. I think one goal for him will do him a world of good, moreso than any other player we have.

What's he done wrong?

Sure the kickout today was a bit petulant. But it's not like he is missing loads of chances every game. He is working hard for the team, doing the dirty stuff - occupying CBs, chasing down balls, hold-up play. He has missed a few chances - but he keeps getting himself in good positions.

There is no reason to be frustrated when we are playing well, and getting goals from other positions.

I think people forget that if we bring in another striker - they still have to do all of the other stuff that Richi is doing already - for us to be successful as a team.

Richarlison is not holding us back.

You sure you was watching the same game. We all want him to do well but he’s simply not good enough at the moment, he was miles off it yesterday. He couldn’t hold the ball up, control it or finish his chances.

I’m not writing him off just yet but we definitely need another option. He’s the weak link in this team right now & there’s only so long we can keep playing him if he continues like this, Son up top with Perisic on the left would be our best option going off the last 3 games. I really hope he gets a goal and gets into some form but we will have to wait & see.

Exactly this, it’s all well & good now cause we’re winning games, but as soon as the missed chances cost us, it will be more highlighted & not so easy to just brush off.

Its absolutely vital, we have different options in the forward areas.

Very true, it’s nice having other players chip in with goals but to be a top team you need a striker scoring minimum 15 goals a season.

IMHO he's been a bit unlucky, he's hit the woodwork a few times last season and this, had unfortunate bounces in the box. He is obviously a confidence player and a goal or two in the next couple of games will hopefully get him up and running.

He is struggling, clearly but comments saying he was absolute dogshit are sensationalist. He played poorly overall and took just a fraction too long when great footwork bought him space to shoot to deny him a goal. There’s an element of a lack of confidence there, which be needs to push through and keep working hard and playing for the team as Postecoglu said.

I also agree that he hasn’t quite worked it out with Sonny and Deki either side, who don’t tend to get early cross in or find passes to slip him through and he might find more joy with Perisic or Solomon. Hope he gets a start tomorrow and has a chance to put in a shift. A goal in any way, shape or form will help the confidence side of things and I do really think he will be able to start netting some for us soon.

Reminds me a little of the struggles Super Pavlyuchenko had initially, then suddenly found some form and went on a blinding run.

Richarlison will do well to score 15 a season. No-one will replicate what we have been used to for the last 7 years.

We’ve been winning with him in the starting XI. As many have pointed out he’s done some things well and some poorly. It’s best we persist with him and build up his confidence. No need to panic yet.

He'll come good, he just needs a goal, you can see that in him on the pitch.
He's an emotional, confidence player and is getting too frustrated with himself as the game goes on.
Get a goal or two under his belt and we'll see a different player.

I saw the same thing with bobby soldier and Erik, sometimes it's just not going to work. The hard decisions are best taken sooner than later.

That's fair, I suppose but he's only had three games so far, under this manager and system.
I'd like to give him a bit more of a chance, personally.

Edit. Plus we've got far more important things to worry about this window.

Nah not for me, he’s going to join the list of strikers that contains soldado, janssen, rasiak rather than the one containing Defoe, Keane, adebayor.

We need another option up there. Going into the season relying on him (and son as back up) is asking for trouble.

As I said..... Give him the right kind of service....... Perisic crossing the ball and he will score!

It was a great cross and good finish but we need another option to him. I’d be happy if that were Scarlett if he can step up.

He can't make simple passes, so many times in last 2 games he can't make a simple pass. Hope he scores a hatful for Brazil on international break to try and get some confidence back

Don't think anyone, even the biggest Richarlison fan would say we don't need another option. But to say he won't score goals for us is just wrong. He will but needs a specific type of service, it's unfortunate that he will imo be very reliant on playing with someone who can deliver crosses like Perisic
