No problem selling him to Man Utd, pairing him with Casemiro sounds interesting but it won't fix their problems because they're both flat footed.

Wondering if a return to Bayern is possible?
Maybe Tuchel doesn't fancy him?
It's also very understandable if they want to stay away after a fresh Levy session.

I just find this situation hard to imagine,

So supposedly we were able to agree a 30 million deal for Hojbjerg but he couldn't agree a deal to join Athletico? Really? I don't know his wage situation but I do know they've never been short of change when signing a player and I don't see Hojbjerg playing hard to get when a team of Athleti's quality comes calling. Would be a perfect move for him, I struggle to see wages being the core issue there, I could imagine playing time possibly. If it were true I'd have some sympathy for Levy because to get Athletico to agree to 30 mill and have Hojbjerg scupper the deal would be frustrating, as I say, I find it hard to believe.

The next part that makes no sense to me is, United have struggled all summer to get the pennies together, all of a sudden, they're going to splash the cash on Hojbjerg? Selling him to Athletico is supposedly 30 mill, so that's the minimum, I'm sure most of us would anticipate a rival tax. Is that what United are going to really do? Amrabat hasn't been playing for Fiorentina and is probably cheaper than 30 but allegedly, United are now going to shift directions at the last moment to Hojbjerg?

I imagine Reguilon would be a cheap loan to benefit everyone, I don't think we're making money there, if truth be told, I'm surprised he couldn't turn it around at Spurs, the player we signed seemed suited to the role, I thought there'd be a chance he'd get that back under Ange but there we are.

If the Hojbjerg stuff were true, if we were in a different situation, where we had grand ambitions this season, I'd say, I'd rather keep him than sell him to united but it sounds like we need money to do business elsewhere and we may have to accept this season being a developmental season, which is difficult given our start.

United fans have noted that Ten Hag has managed Hojbjerg previously (when he was manager of Bayern's second team).

Consequently, they believe this rumour may have legs.

More legs than Casemiro currently appears to have at any rate.

Imagine him and Bruno Fernandes in the same midfield. Hand gesticulating would be off the charts.

Let’s be honest, if we sold PEH and Reguilon to United and that paid somewhat for Palhinha then it’s a no brainer. We would have a better player in midfield by selling two players deemed surplus.

People saying we should keep him. Maybe he doesn’t want to be a bit part player and wants to be a first teamer somewhere especially in a CL team like AM or United.

He isnt their no1 target so we can’t be greedy. IMO we should take a reasonable profit & move on. Otherwise he will be yet another player on books where we sell at a significant loss.
Of course we need to upgrade him properly as well
But we can be greedy with PEH, because if he ends up staying we already know that Ange will use him and he’ll be useful. He makes our squad better.

Most of our deadwood have no value to us and we should take whatever the best offer is even if it’s paltry. But PEH, GLC, maybe even Sanchez, we can demand at least a normal-ish fee because we need to replace them with real quality or we’re worse off without them.

It all comes down to whether a deal can actually happen and whether we have enough time to get a upgrade on Hojbjerg. I dont want us to keep negotiating to get a higher value but end up then with no replacement on 31st.

Why would Maguire, choose not to be back up at United so he can be backup at Spurs?
