Think the idea would be to utilize Brozovic in that Sissoko role. Let Lo Celso work more freely in attack and just have PEH sit deep. On paper, it's a lot more solid of a midfield.
I would do the opposite, let Brozovic sit deep like Winks, and free Hojbjerg to run around the football. Brozovic is a much more disciplined player than Hojbjerg as far as holding position goes. If Dele plays himself into the team, we will have the option of rotating Lo Celso,Brozovic and PEH based on the opponent.

Oh good. Another thread where it devolves into selling our most talented midfielder for no reason.

And after a quick google, replacing him with a player who seems to have an almost Balotelli level of batshit craziness

look back, before the links. He split opinion back then too. I think Southampton wont miss him, they've actually played better without him. However, that doesn't mean he wont do a job for us. If we sign him I don't expect him to be a clear starter, but I do think he would offer us something we lack.
He split opinion before yes, now it’s almost unanimous (bar one, possibly two posters).

I think we come out ahead if its Brozovic and Skriniar for N'Dombele and Sissoko, purely because Sissoko is worth nothing more than £5-10m.

On that topic, two form GLC, Brozovic and Hojbjerg as a two in front of our wonky back three wouldn't be the worst thing in the world. Has a bit of creativity in there as well as some steel.

The fact that they've played better without him the last month or so probably doesn't help that perception. I don't see why any Southampton fan will be currently particularly worried about losing him.

There was a largely vocal portion of our fan base championing how good we were without Kane. And while PEH isn’t comparable to Kane, it shows how views can be skewed and changes in how a team are playing can be down to many more variables than one player not playing.

Has it not kind of been proven when it comes to his issues with attacking talents you should not back this manager?

Not really no. I mean he signed Robben and Drogba for Chelsea and they did alright. He swapped Ibrahimovic for Etoo despite being a fan of Ibrahimovic and used the rest of the cash to sign Sneijder and did alright. Signed Diego Costa when back at Chelsea, resigned Ibrahimovic for his stint at United and made the most of him. He's got a pretty excellent track record of signing attacking players and winning trophies with them.

Seriously?! Back the manager unless fans decide otherwise? Notwithstanding the fact that the current manager is one of the most successful of all time? :ROFLMAO:

I get that. I really do. But I think it is important for people to check expectation. I actually do not expect PEH to be the clear cut established midfielder in our side. I just see him as someone who will compete, offer us something different blablabla. I support signing him completely. But some people are making him out to be some missing piece or someone super talented.

I really don't believe him to be that good, and it's not about the position, the dm is actually one of the harder positions to play, and PEH is not a top player in it, and that's the thing really. PEH in southampton itself, has never been considered to be the same level as Wanyama, schneiderlin or Toby.

Fair play mate, it’s all part of the game that we have different opinions, I think he’s a good player, and think he will do well for us. Southampton fans loved him the season before last, and he’s playing a different role there than I think he’d be asked to play here. Honestly, I’m as likely to be wrong as you are as to how he’ll do. We can only guess based on what we’ve seen (or in some cases, not saying you, what we’ve read).

I think PEH will be OK at the base of a CM3 but not really in a 2. If we play 3 in CM, getting Dele on the pitch becomes a problem. Just have to wait and see what Mourinho has in store for us.

Who’s our next manager?

Considering the impact Parker, Palacios, Sandro, Wanyama and Dier had in modern times here it’s quite surprising people still don’t see what a player like Hojbjerg can do to a team. Players who look great on YouTube aren’t always what a team needs.
We desperately need a disciplined shield for our defence who works really hard and wins the ball back.

Hes actually a pretty good passer of the ball but even if all he did was quickly pass it a few yards to Lo Celso it would be an improvement considering his strengths.

Dier was great in the Leicester year but not after. Palacios,I didn’t rate at all.The others were great though.
