Skipp is perfectly fine as a depth piece to meet HG requirements. Not sure I understand this rush to get rid.

shouldn’t be a starter and needs to be played in a 3 man midfield like every midfielder we have, despite consistently picking managers who want to be overrun and outnumbered there.

he does go over the ball on tackles more than about any player I’ve ever seen. It’s remarkable he hasn’t gotten a red card yet. That’s something he has to work out.

Are there not any better options coming through the academy, who offer more than Skipp to make up homegrown quota

There are possibly but the issue seems to be that they are all below the U21 level and probably a bit too young to be thrust in, or relied upon yet.
The best young talents in the academy all seem to be 19 or under, so the odd bench spot or run out in an early cup game is probably the best we should expect from them yet.

Personally, I'm hoping to see Devine get some time next season but a lot will depend of which manager we get (which is why I think it's so important to get a youth focused manager).
But even if Devine does get some game time, it'll probably be with Skipp, rather than instead of him.

Skipp is, in my humble opinion, streets ahead in terms of development than pretty much anyone else in the academy and it'll take them a while to catch up. That's why we have to be patient with Skipp, also because he'll show the other talented younger players that there's actually a pathway to first team football at Spurs.

We've got some real young potential but unless we can show them that there's a way to the first team, we're really going to struggle to keep hold of them.

He's a good player and just fine to keep in the squad. He's still young and should get better under a more proactive manager. He does get caught up from behind too often and needs to work on shielding the ball.

Skipp has suffered next to Hojbjerg, just as Hojbjerg has next to Skipp. Neither one can play through a press effectively, both are overly right footed, and tend to play a role of recycling the ball. Neither can split lines through passes, running with the ball or intelligent movement. I tend to prefer Skipp, he gets a lot of challenges in, is homegrown and has a good attitude. Partnered with Bissouma or Bentancur, both of whom can play through a press, he looks better.

I would have a midfield squad of Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp, Sarr and one midfielder who can play either as a 8 or 10 and is a bit more creative. We should be able to get a decent fee for Hojbjerg, who only turns 28 in Aug and has years of top-flight experience.

I agree. I like Hojbjerg but if we're replacing a midfielder, it's got to be him really.

I’d like to see Biss, Benta and Skipp as a three, sat in front of a back four. I think Skipp would allow our FB to be wing backs a bit too. He reads attacking movement well, especially with a couple of ballers around him.

The top HG players are going to be too expensive, whilst the young, promising ones will want to go to a club where they will get minutes so they can develop. Are we going to buy a Morgan Gibbs White for example and give him 2000+ minutes? Personally I wouldn't mind gambling on someone like that.

Skipp is still a decent player imo, likely never going to be more because he's missed a lot of football in the last two years. He's still not as bad as some make out and as a squad option he won't let us down. I still retain the hope that with the right coach in a single pivot system he can thrive.

First interview he gives and says it will be memed
I came here to say something similar! Conte always called him Skippy but I am willing to bet that Ange calls him Olly or something! He can't fall into that Skippy trap!

if we get a good bid, let him go. Otherwise it'd be PEH I'd encourage offers for. This Hatate looks good, I've decided, on the basis of a 5 min video, and he's dirt cheap apparently too. Leaving enough dough for Raya and Laporte, plus a young CB with pace.

Congratulations skippy on winning the euros- anyone know when he will be back with the squad?
I think he gets a contractual 21 day break, but may decide to return sooner. Same as Udogie after his exit.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I've heard similar. Tough spot for Skippy. Deserves a bit of rest, but can understand he won't want to fall behind in competition for spots in the XI. (I think he is facing an uphill battles anyway - but can understand why he wants get in front of the gaffer as soon as possible.)

Yep. Interesting times in CM. Bissouma is surely a lock, especially in Bentancur's absence. And if Hojbjerg goes, it's all up for grabs.

I think your right. He will probably miss the tour then which I fear will put him quite far behind
