I’d have him back if others in his position were moved on to free up funds the balance the squad

Could let Lucas go and bring Edwards back at a profit. Tbh, I think Edwards would probably be better suited to that slightly withdrawn wide role than Lucas. Just my opinion mind.

And if we are thinking from a practical/financial frame of mind, Edwards has wayyy bigger future value. I think Mourinho loves Lucas, though. Also, Edwards has to agree to come back which may be the biggest question mark for any move.

I never understood why Poch didn't try and use Edwards in the last 15 minutes of games. Ok he sounds like he was a bit of a bell end, but most teenagers are, this is the one thing that annoys me about youth development.

He clearly has crazy ball control and simple psychology would mean if we started showing faith in him and his ability, he would potentially show more faith in us and behave a little better (or turn into Ravel Morrison, but at least we would have tried instead of transferring his attitude problems to Norwich). It's not like his talent wasn't known to every coach in England, he's been raved about for years. Bizarre.

Playing young players in the last few mins of matches doesn't do much for their development, it was clear that Edwards had to mature in which we did the right thing by sending him to Norwich. In theory it was a good loan move because they play on the front foot and played the way Poch likes to setup his teams, however he didn't take his chance and that's fully on Marcus. I criticized Poch on the way he handled KWP but he got this one right IMO

I'm not saying last two minutes, last 20-15 is what i mean. If Edwards was really such a bad egg a loan to Norwich was the worst thing for him, we needed to show him love and let his ability do the talking. So i think it's a bit harsh saying it's fully on Marcus, its on both Marcus and the club for not being able to deal with different individuals who have different trigger points and needs.

Everyone was raving about Marcus, way more than KWP, Mason, Bentaleb etc. This guy was the golden boy of our youth set up and if you think the club takes zero blame for him not making it, that's just a little naive in my book. Some players just need to be thrown in the deep end, Poch even likened him to Messi but then never played him, as a 17 year old how much would that mess with your head. Your boss is saying you have talent comparable to the best player in the world, yet he doesn't even play him.

We gave him time in the Gillingham cup game and he looked good and dangerous, then nothing. Bizarre.
