it’s all on their strength of character, but goalies often end up resulting after a poor period.

Gomes played almost no football for 3 seasons till we sold him to Watford aged 33, he became their first choice and was very good for them for 4 seasons.

No pressure or spotlight on him at Watford. Small club with low fan expectations and little media coverage. When he made the odd mistake etc it wouldn’t have been jumped on. His confidence would have grown and grown

Still made mistakes but nothing compared to that last sad period in goal for us

Without having a clear insight into Hart’s mind, which of course none of us have, there’s no way of knowing how he’ll respond to Mourinho’s way. He’s clearly not physically spent so it’s almost all going to be down to psychological factors. I would rather assume our manager knows what he’s doing than not.

Shows how magnificent Lloris has been for us over such a long period when you think how much Gomes and Robinson went downhill

I would love Hart to become the keeper he once was but all the evidence points to the contrary....

Oh absolutely. Lloris is probably our best ever goalie after Jennings (though I’ll always have sift sports for Erik the Viking and Robbo), and in my opinion still top 5 in the world.

I understand the skepticism about Hart, and I’m similarly concerned about how much he can offer, but equally I think if there’s any manager equipped to restore his mentality then it’s ours.

We're so fucked if Gazzaniga leaves and Joe Hart is our actual number 2 and plays Cup games and in the inevitable LLoris injured matches.

Less fucked than having Vorm. It was like starting 1-0 down in every cup game.

Hart is a better shop stopper than Gazzaniga as far as I'm concerned. For me it boils down to confidence, Pep showed no regard for Hart and completely destroyed his confidence but I'm sure a phone call from Jose went a long way to rehabilitating that confidence. Now if I'm jose I'd probably call Hart into the office and say Joe, we brought you in to be our 3rd keeper but we've been so impressed with you in training that we've decided to let Gazzaniga go and have you and Hugo competing and we'll fill the final spot with a youth player who we think will benefit from having you around and training up close with you. Really pump that confidence back up in him by showing we're making decisions because we have faith in him.

Because Joe Hart, the goalkeeper, not the speech holder, has shown in the last seasons you can not really trust him anymore.

I'd be worried too if we start with just two senior goalkeepers. Not saying we need to keep Gazza, but if we sell, I would be All In for another experienced HG keeper who pushes Hart for the #2 spot.

Maybe we will sign one?

We were linked with the Fulham keeper the other month for example.

Hes been awful for about 5 years now. In Turin they hated him, the president said he was terrible. Dropped at West Ham and Burnley, hes just a bad Goalkeeper. He can't dive to his left.

Was this always the case? I’ve heard it said but never really looked out for it in games so no idea if it is actually true. It didn’t seem to be a problem when he was behind title winning defences at Man City for example.

With a defence always prone to switching off I like a keeper like Hart shouting, organising and bollocking them. He’ll do a good job when needed and and think he is an upgrade on Vorm and Gazza.

An ex-international, title winning goal keeper can't dive to his left?

Been lots of articles written about it over the years.

Hes just not been a good Keeper for a while now. This is the worst player Spurs have signed in a long time, even with people like Nkoudou and N'jie you can see the clubs logic as they were thought to have some potential. Hart is legitimately a bad player.

The are a few positives I can think of is that for the 15-20 games he will play this season hopefully it won't cost us too much, the funds we get from selling Gazzaniga might help us improve in other areas and Mourinho's style of play will help Hart out.

Jose style has already seriously helped Lloris out who now doesnt have to play out from the back as much and has a defence much more closer to him so he doesn't have to charge out of the box. Hes simplified his role.

He should just stand on his left post all game so he only has to dive to the right.

We are screwed. Mourinho could win us a cup competition but if he chooses Hart as his keeper we will be hampered.
