Good to see him play again, should play more, though there might have been some fitness issue behind why he's been benched for so long after his injury comeback.

He is a beast! POCKETED Foden and Sterling, which is incredibly impressive. Honestly bullied them a couple of times and didn't get beat once. Led a few charges forward too. Really good performance from him, such a strong individual defender. I honestly think as long as Reguilon is out we're best off playing him at LB instead of Davies, assuming we can play Aurier on the right.

Zero reason Tanganga shouldn't be starting for us with the state of our defensive personnel.

Would like to see:

Aurier Rodon Toby Tanganga

Same thing as last year, Aurier gets more license to go forwards, Tanganga less so, Lamela cuts in from the right, Son hugs the left touchline.

Japhet was the only bright spot of that performance today (and maybe Bale's run forwards).

I agree that he needs to be starting, however Jose has shown (in the last two games at least) a desire to have both the fullbacks get up the field to allow Son to get more central in front of goal. Tanganga has shown he can go forwards well, so maybe he'll do the same on the left.

he can be our equivalent of wan-bissaka, may not offer a ton going forward but defensively capable of locking down opposing wingers.

I would like to see Tanganga and Rodon at CB for a run of game.
If they make mistakes, so be it. The rest of the CB's are making mistakes, but hopefully these 2 can learn and develop from them.

I thought he had a good game considering his lack of game time - which shines a light on other players for sure.

No idea if he's a right back or a center back, but frankly, given what we have seen now over the last two seasons at both positions I'd quite happily have someone in a position of power make their mind up and let him play. I thought he did well against Foden all night, for what that's worth.

First choice RB. Come at me
Agreed. Been wanting him to get a run there all season and after today he deserves that chance. Even if he’s not a wing back, his athleticism means that he can at least stretch the pitch up top, and defensively he gives us a lot.

Definitely would start him ahead of Doherty. He's not ahead of Aurier for me though.
I think the argument is make in his favour ahead of Aurier is that Aurier at his best is good, at his worst is awful, and we’ve seen his ceiling which even much improved probably is a notch or yet below what we need. Play this kid there and see if he can take that spot up another level.

I’d like to see him and reguilon together. I just think he needs a chance to learn on the job with a run of games on the right or in the centre. If he’s not going to get that chance next season, send him on loan like sess and skipp, it’s benefited both of them. However, I think at worse he should be second choice rb. If we sell serge (if he doesn’t sign a new deal) or Doherty (hasn’t worked out, doesn’t fit the system, I’d sell him), he should be trusted, and he’ll save us some money on a replacement in this pandemic climate.

When he first got into the team he did very well and people were shooting their loads about him. Then he went through a rough patch and people were suggesting he wasn't as good as they thought. Today he was no better than steady and the jizz is flowing again.

Having said that, it seems to me that there's potential there and I hope he develops into the player we all hope he can be.

Can I just ask though, his lack of game time didn't seem to stop him competing today, is it different levels for different players as to why they don't compete?

I think he was the raw fundamentals to be a success at fullback but I think people think his height may be an issue at Centre half (although it’s not for Alaba etc)

I'll get pelters here because he's thought of highly and comes across as a genuinely sound guy but I don't think he'll reach the level that others allude to, now that's going off very little bit the same could be said of those who rate him highly. I hope he pushes on, stays injury free and proves my initial opinion wrong!

steady is underselling him a bit i think. sterling and foden are two of the best attacking players in the league and neither got anything out of him, sterling then went to the other side of the pitch and went past davies 3 or 4 times within the space of 20 minutes.
