Before we even consider getting rid of Ndombele and/or GLC, we first need to remove Sissoko and winks from the club. Our last 3 coaches (including the current one) have regularly played them. As long as they are still on our books, the next coach will likely keep using them.
if our last 3 coaches have all seen something in Sissoko, doesn't that tell you something? I do accept though he's getting on a bit and we are in dire need of freshening up the squad so will be ok if he leaves, along with about 23 others in the squad.

We need him to be a creative spark for us like he was at Betis scoring goals / making goals.

We’re badly missing a CAM, I feel like Gio needs more freedom to play behind the strikers

You’d bite the hands off anyone offering our money back on him

I'm tempted to agree, but I'd first like to see how he could do if he actually had a half decent (progressive) manager to work under.

The last 2 years of THFC has been nothing but a lesson in regression. So it's kind of hard to (fairly) judge the likes of GLC & NDombele.

Having started pretty poorly, he slowly got into the game and became the only midfielder with the bravery to play an incisive forward pass.

Then he got hauled off.

Fucking superb decision. :banghead:

Like Ndombele, he has loads of talent, that's obvious. His ceiling looks really high but there is a question of whether things will click for him here. As @coopsieyid mentioned above, it's very difficult to judge him given the sorry state of the club since he arrived. I would also say he needs at least another season under a manager who has playing decent football before we can properly judge him. Same goes for quite a few in the current squad.

Probably would've looked like a world-beater right now if somehow Leicester had signed him in 2019. In general they seem to get the most out of their signings, whereas here it's way too often 'he is talented, but..' or 'we don't play to his strenghts' or 'he has regressed massively over the last couple of months' or 'it was always going to be difficult with all his injuries' etc.

I actually think we need to be aiming higher than PEH, he is a battler who puts in a good effort but is just so limited with the ball. Useful to have in the squad, but assuming we actually want to play some Football he just doesn’t have it. Having said that moving on from Winks and Dele is a higher priority

Hojbjerg does his job perfectly as a defensive midfielder. NDombele and Lo Celso are meant to be the creative midfielders.

Without Hojbjerg we would be even further adrift in the Premier League and would have lost by a bigger margin on Sunday. He's an effective defensive midfielder whose role is not to create but destroy. Mason not playing Ndombele and picking Winks were the fatal flaws. LoC did not play that badly at Wembley but Ndombele would have given us more going forward IMHO

At this moment I am far from impressed with Lo Celso, imo he shouldn't be ahead of a certain player not going to mention name.

I do see potential in him though, hope to see that more on the pitch he has to do much better.

Hopefully he can improve.

These past two years he has looked like an ever so slightly better harry winks.

Which isnt good enough.

Why wouldn't you mention the name?

I have to admit, he has not progressed as i had hoped or expected.

But would still like to see him stay in the side for the remainder of the season just to see where he is at, as before his injury he was one of our best and most influential players.

No way should we consider selling him.
He's had a tough season with injuries but was probably our best attacking player in the final - god alone knows why he was taken off!
He was also superb when he got a run of games, was it the end of last season?

Yes, he's had a bad season but that's down to injuries and the fact that our entire team have been shit.
He's clearly a talented and passionate player, he just needs to keep fit and we need to get a decent manager.

If we get in Ten Harg he will flourish, would be the perfect system for him and i really believe we would see what he's really capable of. This is assuming Ten Harg can successfully adapt to the PL, which i reckon he would.

That’s only half the story. He was hauled off for Sissoko - a player that shouldn’t be anywhere on the pitch .

Imagine being Bale, being bright on at 0-0 which is clearly a sign of intent that we’re going to try and win the match, but next to you also coming on is the man guaranteed to ensure that you don’t see the ball unless you stay firmly in your own half at all times.

It’s like making a roast dinner, but instead of potatoes you serve cat food on the side of the meat.

Not sure how judgment can be passed on him, one way or another. He certainly shouldn’t be judged right now. He has been out for long periods injured. I’d like to see how he does once fully fit, with a dozen consecutive games ender his belt, and he feels confident in his body again. Last season there was a 6 week period where he looked settled and fit. He was very good. I think we need to give him time.
