Gio is one of the best players at this club right now, no question.

Yeh I agree. He was so far above our other midfielders last year and now this year the cast around him has great ability too. He’s going to get a lot of football if he is healthy and will force his way into the starting 11 too. It’s good because it means Sissoko and Ndombele can’t drop their levels as Gio will come in. Keeps everyone on their toes.

Lo Celso the RW.

Forget about playing him in the middle, playing him wide right is the truth.

I said this the other week we should try GLC on the left, but equally the right would work. Then Son stays on the left as well.
Jose is wedded to the double-pivot and even if Sissoko was dumped he'd want another player of that style in there.

He's one of our best players and we need to get this lad in the team.

Of last year Jose trusted him in a double pivot with Winks, then this season he’ll end up trusted with Højbjerg. Just needs to keep this up and he’ll get the opportunity.

All over the pitch and doing everything, pressing, probing, carrying the ball with skill and technique, lovely finish for his goal too. Man of the match tonight.

He's actually a better tackler than Sissoko, and maybe faster too, so it's surely only fitness preventing him from matching his contrubution in defense and transition.

I’m a Sissoko fan but the ceiling of our team is much higher if Jose can trust Hojbjerg, Ndombele and Gio together. I’d like to see it tried against a team that sits deep

feckin' brilliant today. that move in the first half when he beat two men and then almost scored with the outside of his foot had me out of my seat.

Great game for Gio. Very complete, I would like to see it from rw in vs Leicester. I think that Liverpool will start because it offers a lot of defensive work and Mourinho will surely put the bus.

I thought he was outstanding but if we’re being picky that wasn’t a difficult finish if he’d actually use his right foot!

I had Gio as MOTM but jesus, if I were dribbling toward the box and I had one of Moussa and Gio coming at me, I know which one would make me shit my shorts...

Same height as Gattuso, and he's Argentinian - I wouldn't be surprised if he develops a reputation as a defensively imposing CM by the end of his career.

I don't think it's his fitness preventing him replacing Sissoko. It's the fact he's naturally more progressive with the football. Watch Sissoko, he's very content to drop into the back 3 when needed. GLC would be less comfortable doing things like that.

I know everyone wants the PEH/GLC/TND midfield but i really don't think this manager is going to play that trio together unless it's against a very ordinary team. The defensive solidity we get from the PEH/Sissoko double-pivot isn't going to be sacrificed anytime soon.

No way he is benched on Sunday after this.

He has to play, question is where? Jose won't leave out Sissoko for him. I think he might start in place of Tanguy although personally i'd play him on the right.

He's clearly one of our best players, this guy needs to be in the team.
