Anyone else fee that Lo Celso is a bit of a gamble?

Obviously Poch knows more than us so I trust him but I’m more worried about this than Ndombele and it’s a fair chunk of our budget.

Every player is a bit of a gamble. He definitely has the raw qualities we need in the team so if Pochettino is as sure as can be I'm all for it. PSG apparently wanted him back so he must have done a pretty good job last season

Yeah I agree, just hope he can cope with the PL and being in a team that’s a lot more under pressure to win than Betis.

The perfect thing about ndombele is that we would be able to ease Lo Celso in a bit more.

I’m starting to get flashbacks to the summer of ‘94 when Klinsmann, Popescu and Dumitrescu all rocked up!

Whose to say NDombele won’t need easing in? Luckily we have Winks and Sissoko too ;)

Most important question is: can he perform on a wet Tuesday night at Stoke Burnley? ?

But in all seriousness, he is a gamble but then any player in that price bracket would be a gamble. We're now operating at a level (CL, top 4/top 3 challengers) whereby that price bracket (£50m-£60m) is the norm for a player of Lo Celso's calibre. In fact similarly talented, emerging attacking midfielders around Europe such as Havertz and Aouar would probably cost even more. You're right, it's a gamble but it's a gamble we have to take if we want to add quality depth to our squad. In addition our Argentinian connection (manager + 3 players in the squad already) should help him to settle.

If Lo Celso is coming in to replace Eriksen, it's really important that we get this done early. We're going to need to do plenty of work on the training ground to allow the players time to gel and to tweak things tactically. Eriksen has been integral to our system for the past few years and we can't expect everything to just work straight away. Problem being, if we want to challenge, we can't really afford to drop points even at the start of the season.

We've already been told that we dont need to sell Eriksen to get GLC in, according to various ITK.

I tend this believe this as we have gone back in for GLC and we dont have a buyer or even a bidder for Eriksen as yet.

I have a feeling this one we'll be tied up in the day or two after the end of the Copa America. Can't imagine Lo Celse wanting to go away on his hols for a week or 10 days with this continued uncertainty. This would also explain why Levy was negotiating with Betis while sorting the Tanguy deal

Agreed, push hard for a deal in principle now ready for him to fly to London next week to finalise. Then off on holiday after (enforced 21 day break).

Smacks of the summer we sold Bale. That was clearly done and dusted early in the window and we agreed to do our business before announcing it. I wouldn't be surprised if RM agreed not to announce the fee is done in principal and floated the Pogba idea to help us get our replacements at reasonable fee's. There is a precedent for it.

That’s not what the ITKs are saying.

Val says maybe Madrid just aren’t that into Eriksen

Didn't popescu only stay for one season?
I remember him being class! Shame he didn't stay.:(
Didn't he score the winner at home against Arsenal that year? ...

Fuzzy memory so could be wrong (apologies in advance!)

Value, yes. But when you consider that PSG has a clause on his profit it does change the situation, whether we like it or not. He will likely be a player we will have to pay beyond our evaluation to get (similar to Liverpool with VVD).

Can’t really compare. The risk of GLC not working out is far higher than VVD not working out for Liverpool was given he was already established as one of the top CBS in the league at that point
