Especially as we haven’t actually spent any yet.

And more importantly - it’s neither our money nor our decision!
Don't forget the money we do spend will be coming from the sales of Eriksen, Toby, Trippier/Aurier, Dembele, Wanyama, and maybe Lamela. So it's really the same thing as always. Just perhaps a little bit of net spend if all our targets come off.

I agree, our scouting is literally non existent. These players are well known now - if you look at our transfer strategy over the last years it is shocking. Steve Hitchen supposed to be shit hot but we haven't seen anything yet.
You still have to scout well known players to know if they are as good as the hype, whether or not they fit your system, whether or not they fit the coaches ideals.

We scout 100s and 1000s of players, unfortunately sometimes you have to wait for them to show something else before you push the button and then there are another 100 clubs doing the same thing.

You're a proper weird guy, aren't you? Are you really 62? If anything, I edited the post to imply you couldn't control your sphincter, far more rude than my initial rendition.

My sphincter is not your concern unless that turns you on and If that post is rude then you better try harder. Its weak.

Why is that unrealistic? Thats the game that Levy's been playing for years now. Signing superstars before they are superstars. That is Spurs down to a T my friend. Where have you been? :D

The point is sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn't. I think we need to mix it up, so still take punts on promising youngsters but at the same time not be afraid to spend big on two or three established, top quality players who can immediately and significantly improve our first team.

Why are you talking about debt as though we are about to default?

This does surprise me. Based on that logic I should have bought a packet of super noodles instead of a Five Guys for lunch the other day because I'm saddled with the mortgage on my house...

OK so has anyone actually watched Betis over the past 6 months? Judging by my football app it seems they played 352 where he played as one of the front 2, or 4231 where he played behind the striker?

TBH I am waiting for DL to say "f*ck it you're right now is the time" and buy Lo Celso (club record transfer), NDombele (club record transfer), Bale (top wage earner w Kane), Sessegnon, resign Eriksen, Toby stays....

Then we miss Top 4 and he vows to never buy a player ever again :LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::hilarious::hilarious::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Wrong thread this is the Lo Celso thread and so clearly is for discussing money and scouts why would you think informative posts about Lo Celso would be of interest to us?

For someone who named himself after labia I've would have stopped there. It was the high point of your comedy career.

Childish humour is also causing you to overeach somewhat Sarge, I mean intellectually. Better stop there before you hurt yourself.
Ironic that you've just tried 'intellectual, grown up' humour on me and garnered...0 funnies.

My "childish" humour is wiping the floor with you.

There are some links to some write ups on him earlier in the thread (pretty sure football whispers was one) but he was played in more of a free role at Betis this season, which led to his increased goal output. Think Dele/VDV. However he was used in CM at PSG and is capable of playing there also. He is one that also likes to drop deeper even if playing in an advanced role to dictate play, a bit like Eriksen does.

I think he'd basically play Eriksen's squad role, and is likely his replacement if he comes in.

There’s a misconception amongst those that defend our transfer policy that anti-Levy posters are only concerned with net spend.

I have no concerns other than having a squad with no gaps, both by numbers and quality. I do not wish the club to spend recklessly, but if that goal takes a reasonable net spend then so be it.

If we were to get quality players in that met our needs without leaving any gaps in the squad then I’d be fucking delighted. I wouldn’t care if our net spend was zero or negative.

I think it is going to be very hard to shift players this season. We not only have transfer price inflation but wage inflation as well and agents fees. Its not that easy to find a club willing to take on an older player on a top six clubss wages structure. Even with Spurs conservative wages policy its higher then most mid table clubs. Invariably the net return is not what we think it is. Levy has been a mastermind at buying low and selling high but he is facing a fairly tough market.

Ergo my point earlier my learned friend. That is the Spurs model. Buying superstars before they are superstars. That is not what we are doing now.
Playing devils advocate, Poch has been VERY clear that we need to change the way we operate. Are you saying he’s wrong?

Betis play back3 with Carvalho as defensive shield. I dont know end of season stat but at one point, they had the most possession in La Liga even better than Barca with 87% passing accuracy. Only problem for them was their lack of goals from strikers. Lo Celso had played centrally alongside carvalho but on transitions he has a free role to move forward with ball.

His playing style is similar to David Silva but bit more direct; He has the turn of pace and dribbling unlike Eriksen. Eriksen can beat his man on the day but he often cant get away further. Lo Celso seems to have that bit of pace and ball control to run with the ball. At same time, has that extra time to pick a good pass.

IMO, Lo Celso & Ndombele will be game changer signings for us

All that effort for me. You have more time on your hands than just being a keyboard warrior. I see youve brough your kindy project to SC. Wonderful Sarge. Thats at least 4 out of 10 for cutting and pasting.
A keyboard warrior?! What?!

You're throwing left and right hooks at everyone who disagrees with you lmao.

And for your information, that took me a whole 3 minutes to make. When you're not a dinosaur, you can get things like that done pretty quickly.
