he was also very strong for PSG when given the chance, and the various sell on fees that PSG and Rosario have drives the price up in order for it to be worth Betis moving him on
That’s the issue, isn’t it? It’s a tangled thread that we need to walk away from soon if Betis won’t budge on their valuation. We must have planned contingencies in case this happened? Poch can’t just expect all his primary targets to be obtainable without planning for the possibility they might not be.

It’s not like we’re talking André Gomes as the alternative, as suggested was offered by Levy last year. There’s a fair wedge of finance available that could readily land alternative quality talent

This is surely in the SC Hall of Fame for transfer sagas right now.

Approaching Moutinho-level, just need some deadline day drama.

Gotta say, a valuation at €75m does seem awfully steep.
Many here seem to forget that they originally asked for his release clause of €100m. They have already conceded quite a bit on their side. Whether or not we see him as good value for that amount, they are probably close to the line of "acceptable" in their opinion.

It depends. If that figure includes add ons I don’t think that’s ridiculous, especially in this market.

You’d be looking at something around £55m plus £13-£15m in add ons.

Yes he’s had one season but he’s an offensive player who’s been banging them in so we can’t expect to be getting him for £40m or lower.

It still needs unique, quirky ITK and a comedy of errors in the final hour of deadline day.

I’ve cleared my diary for deadline day, because it’s threatening to be one of Chernobyl like meltdown

Using your house buying analogy, if your house was on the market for £600k and I offered you £350k + an extra £50k if I bang Cameron Diaz in the attic room would you be inclined to sell it to me?

I really wish you’d stop trying to buy my house pablo.

Thank fuck he wasnt playing for Betis in the CL last season because if he was, one season or not, you can bet your arse they’d be holding out for a lot closer to €100m

We're not buying a house. These analogies are pointless.
Players' transfer rights are infinitely more volatile and intangible than that. The only factor determining price-levels is supply VS demand. But the returns are also greater. A successful new recruit can yield greater overall income and increase the value of other players. Houses can't do any of that to other houses...

The analogy was to bring people down to comparable wealth.

As soon as people talk in millions, they talk about it like it’s 50p.

£10m is a lot to a company of our size. For one asset purchase.

Yeah, someone needs to climb a tree for this to truly reach iconic levels.

Most of us know next to nothing about Lo Celso, we’re relying on the opinion of real experts to know whether he is worth €75m to the club in the current market or whether he’s a good investment for future sale. Sorry everyone but you’re really going to have to trust Daniel Levy on this one because he simply will not get turned over by Betis based on the information he has. If he pulls the plug it’s for sound reasons and we’re not going to like it but we’ll have to accept it.

It depends how badly you want the asset and/or if there’s any competition for said asset.

Your house example - if it was your dream home, nothing else available and lots of people wanted the house then to get it you’re going to have to pay over the market value.

With regard to Lo Celso, he’s a player Poch wants. It’s not as if we’re after 5 players and needing to overpay to get them all, this is one player. In addition to this he has a buy out clause and Betis are well within their rights to tell us to sod off unless we pay it.

Of course if that's their valuation of him than that is his current value. If we think that's bad value then perhaps it's time to move on.
I always though the adage was that something is worth what someone is willing to pay, no?

Otherwise I could just say ‘I will only sell you my left nad for an offer of £159m’ and suddenly my left nad is the worlds most valuable testicle.

How about this house analogy?

You're right - £10m is a lot, but the house/football player analogy isn't a good one.
Lo Celso's approx market value of £50m is around 12% of THFC's total annual revenue.
A house with a value of £600,000 is around 21 times more than the median UK annual income for an individual.

No because, someone paid real money for my pal Bobby Soldado which forever made your first sentence wrong.

Another day, another Vinny argument
The fact I deleted that post within 5 seconds and you still saw it and replied says it all. You are on here 24/7 and it is affecting you. You've been arguing literally every day, for the most pointless things - and when there's nobody to argue with, you make a passive-aggressive comment inferring things nobody was saying so you can argue with a hypothetical viewpoint?

It's you that needs to take a day off, it honestly can't be good for your blood pressure.

We are all aware that Vinny is an absolute Nkoudou of a forummer, aren’t we? A complete car crash....

Sorry for using a rubbish analogy. I see the error of my ways. I'll make sure I revert to something more appropriate next time.

Not something that simply demonstrates the uplift in price that someone was asking for (which is what I was doing).

Would have been much easier if the house was called Giovanni Lo Houso, then perhaps you ****s could cut me some slack.

Jheeeeeeeeee.
