If we need a goal in the last 15 mins I’d rather bring him on than Moura or Bergwijn.

There's probably no player in our squad I want on the ball more than Bale when a team is dropping deep looking to defend a lead or a point.

Waddle at Sheffield.

That's what I was hoping for.

...or maybe I am remembering that better than it was.

Then again Gareth is trying to break I to a team that is flying at the moment.

I definitely feel that Bale could apply more effort and have a bit more appetite for the ball.
However, although others are saying that Gareth is finding his way back...I also think José is taking his time working out how and where to use Gareth.
In the same way José took his time with Bergwin, Le Celso, Aurier, N'Domobele...even Son.
At some stage José will work out how to get the best out of Gareth...and find ways to unleash his potential (as an experienced player in his 30's). He'll find the right position, the right carrot, the right words, the right mindset...to get the best out of Bale.

All José wants to see in the meantime is effort and commitment...and I think Bale needs to up this by 25% and find a bit more confidence and authority.

I think that's where I can see him shining.

We've not had to come from behind in the league this season (aside from the Everton game which never happened) but when we do need a goal and are pushing, Bale is exactly the type of big game player you want to call on: he can score from range, with his head, and thrives in those moments.

He's clearly never going to be the Bale of old but there are the odd glimpses here and there and I think he'll have some big moments this season, even if he doesn't start very often.

Don't write him off yet.

Good for free kicks when needed but does he do enough to get a PL bench spot. When Lamela is back looks like a choice between Lamela, Lucas & Bale for a place on the bench all fighting for one spot currently held by Stevie.

Every game he seems to trust his body to sprint a little bit more than the previous match. I know patience and football don't go hand in hand but seriously just wait. Everytime he plays and doesn't get injured he will get a little bit of the confidence in his legs back. Also Mourinho will at some point make it clear (I think he started last night by hauling him off) that short bursts aren't enough its time to man up a bit but im sure it will happen and if it doesn't he can come off the bench and provide moments of magic like the freekick when we are chasing a game.

I think he should get minutes on the left.

On the right we expect a spectacular cut inside move but I think he needs to master simplier stuff first.
Beat your man on the left wing and find the strikers in the middle.

How much patience should we give him, considering he's on loan for 1 season. This isn't like the initial period with Son or Ndombele where we could allow them to adapt to the club and league as they had contracts for multiple seasons.

If Bale didn't hit the ground running on day one his loan was an expensive gamble for Spurs that hasn't paid off. He stays for the next few months as a bench warmer and then goes back to being Madrid's problem.

But what’s the rush? It’s not like we’re 14th in the league and knocked out of the group of the Europa is it. Time is on our side on this one. People just need to chill out.
