Numerous UK media - including Kaveh whatshisname on Sky - were reporting yesterday that it could be a month before he’s match fit. So there probably is a strain/knock of some sort. None of this is actually ‘news’ which hasn’t already been reported earlier on this week.

not match fit doesn't mean injured though. Based on last weekend, a bunch look like a month away from peak match fitness, doesn't mean they didn't play. This is the same at the start of most seasons (or restarts)

Well, you`re right. And I guess countries which havn`t "their own" sports they are focusing on, have much more focus on the big global sports? So, that might be an explaination. Another is that in general my focus is on football and Spurs. But, I`m probably atypical. Most norwegians might know these names. On the other hand many young people havn`t heard about Cinderella (the band), Skid Row or Motley Crue (before The Dirt-movie).. Which also is a little bit strange. It`s all about interests.

That's true.
I guess we're a lot closer to America than you guys (not in a geographical sense), so their cultural icons kinda become our cultural icons too. Especially with Kobe.
As for Serena, well, we've got Wimbledon so tennis is always pretty big over here and she's won it loads.
The only British skiers I can think of were Martin Bell and Eddie 'the eagle' Edwards, not really great representation. ?
