Thats nothing mate Ragnar Lodbrok tore his ACL in Paris...and the lads went home crying
Yeah, but Ragnar's injury and Skulldrinker's injury would hardly put them in the same boat, would it? Or rather, the same dragon-headed langskip

I rarely let this sort of shit annoy me as it's part and parcel of the game, but I am very ready for this guy to be gone. It's such a fucking obvious distraction. If he was turning up on the pitch I wouldn't care but he's had one foot out the door for the best part of a year now.

Played his cards all wrong and that's unfortunately how most are going to remember him.

I don't understand why anyone would be so desperate to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona while already being an almost essential part of a club that just reached its first ever CL final. Eriksen's career is going backwards atm, and it's only because he's failing to appreciate what he already has.

Really?

Rez,the original style of the Vikings wasnt 433 or wasn't death by 10,000 small little dinky back and forth passes....they preferred through balls

I’m not sure that he’s downed tools more the fact that he’s burnt out. Between Ajax, spurs and Denmark he’s pretty much played 50+ games a season and put in the hard yards at the same time.

Yes, with a 38 game season, plus cups, an internationally capped player will. I can't think of many top players that don't.

It's hardly worthy of a moonpig card.

Ive always loved Eriksen and think he been one of our best players recent years.
And its not that I dont accept that good players leave every now and then, because I do. Its manner. Not signing a contract, disrupting the squad, being fucking shit at football.
He had the potential to become a legend at spurs, now I just want him gone. Also think Poch should let others have his place on the bench.

The fact is he’s played the most minutes, ran the furthest, and hardly ever been rested for over five years under a very demanding manger like Poch. It will eventually tell on players. The fact that we never bought a creative understudy earlier was a mistake.

He’s pretty much been top of the most yards run over the last 6 years I don’t think it’s far fetched to think this has effected him.

Here's where I stand:

Do I think Eriksen has downed tools?
No, I don't think he's that stupid to be moping around and overtly not bothering. But when you are mentally distracted by an issue it only takes a unconscious drop off of 5% to be the difference between being first to the ball, making that killer pass, finding the bottom corner or not. You can see even in his Denmark matches he's dropped off too so this isn't exclusively a Spurs issue.

Is it money related?
No, I don't think it's anything to do with money, otherwise he would have signed a new deal with a release clause and made himself several million in the mean time.

What is affecting him?
I do think his failure to move to Real and Barca has probably hit him hard mentally. He has always had a career plan and we were always that next step to get to one of those two footballing giants but when it came time they didn't want him (or at least they didn't want him enough), and that is hard for him to take. He thought he'd be good enough and he possibly just isn't quite there.

In a way his lack of mental toughness in dealing with this adversity has shown itself as it was always a criticism he's faced in his career - that he sometimes goes missing. For all the technical ability he's been called inconsistent and unable to lead and I think that's true.

Players run in training most days of the week.

He is unique in that he seems to come out with the "distance" stats without actually looking like he breaks a sweat or runs out of steam, so I'm not buying that excuse.

He wants to leave and stopped committing around March. It's simple as that.

He’s had enough rest and breaks for him to freshen up, and build up strength, this last 12 months.
That neither Real or Barca came in for him, is a blow for him. His performances since the World Cup have been garbage, his stats are comparable with pre-WC but anecdotally we know, we’ve seen it.
His confidence is at an all time low atm, and I’m not sure where or how he is going to turn it around. Makes me a little sad tbh. With NDom and Lo Cel we have it covered now. CE will defo feel he has played his cards wrong though.

IF Lo Celso (please please please get and stay fit! ?) I wouldn’t even have Eriksen on the bench at the moment.

And the same goes for Alderweireld, I’d much prefer to have someone like Tanganga on bench.

Ozil used to come out on top for the distant ran stat all the time as did other no10's.

I think it's to do with those players always trying to be on the move to find space, I think the system is so sensitive that it picks up light jogs to try and get away from their marker as they are always looking for the ball, it doesn't necessarily mean that he's busting a gut.

Yep, there’s a difference between chasing players down/running with the ball and what Eriksen does - jogging after shadows. You can run all day but if you don’t impact the game then looking like you’ve covered the most distance is irrelevant.

Yes, really.

I don't know about you but, if I were a footballer, I would see it as a far bigger achievement to build history with a club like us than to simply being a small part in the history of a powerhouse club that's probably bored already of winning multiple titles every other season. To me the later is not real ambition.
