I had high hopes for Gil and he's a nice lad, but feel like Donley stepping into his squad spot would be an upgrade.

It's great to see pretty much every player want to stay, fight for their place and help the team even against significant odds. There's great football, a great atmosphere and they're probably having a lot of fun when a year ago it was the complete opposite. Love it, best of luck Bryan

Fab Romano just said on his stream that Gil is staying 100% and wants to fight for his place.
Admirable, but he desperately needs to go out and get minutes. His main hope to get time here will be injuries.

Can fight all he wants, he won't become a regular starter unless we have significant injuries again. He is 100% not part of the long term future.

Agreed. I mean if your club are prepared to let you leave on loan what does that say about how much they see you playing? Even if he is desperate to stay at Spurs in the long term, right now he'd be better off taking the loan and showing everybody that he can play in this league.

Think the lad is equally betting on himself and sick to death of going on loan constantly. Don't blame him either, but surely a permanent deal is coming in the summer.

Yea could also be this, as moving country and house every 6-9 months isn’t fun. He might as well sit it out until summer.

Happy he’s good with fighting for a spot and I’ll root him on whenever he comes on. From my couch. In the United States. Bryan will feel me. Behind him. Backing him.

Interesting that he enjoys staying so much here even though it should be fairly clear he's far away from a starting spot

I love that he has belief in himself though. He's still young and Ange said in his latest presser he works really hard. He also made a good point that he didn't get a pre-season due to injuries and has been playing catch up. I'm happy he's staying with the setbacks for Soloman. Although we've got a number of players back I don't want to feel easy about it knowing injuries can pile up again at any time. We may need to call on him but at the very least it's good to have an attacking option on the bench.

I think players dont want to just go out and play at smaller clubs/weaker leagues when they are at a club that has a great environment and there'a really healthy competition and enjoyable football. They would prefer to play less minutes and not give up the hope of playing for a team they like.

Now if it was Conte, Nuno or José, these players would be jumping at a loan.

It is a great sign.

Don't get at all why he stayed. Noticed he's been missing from the bench recently also. If he likes being here - surely proving he can do it at Brighton in the prem is the answer if he wants to be here longer term. They've even had their injuries so would have got some decent game time to make more of an impact there
