At this stage he seems like a moments (often big moments) player. Doesn’t influence the game as someone like Kulu in that position but he’s almost always involved in goals or big chances.

He is the biggest contributor to our first goal today. He beats two defenders with his acceleration on the right which also keeps Richy onside and plays a great first time pass for the assist.

Very nice team goal that one

Had some good moments but he doesn't affect the game enough just yet.
I'm sure he'll get better as he's still very young but he needs to be a bit more confident and use his pace more because he's got some skills and good vision.

Come on. Two assists and should have had a goal. He's not the one pulling strings in establishing our attacks, but is crucial with the second/third touch before a goal. Will be crucial on the final touch as well soon. With confidence he will be very good for us.

I’m not trying to be too critical, because I thought he had an okay game. That said, he didn’t get two assists, and was at fault for not burying the chance.

Regardless, he still contributed one excellent assist, and I’m sure he’ll continue to improve.

Don’t mean to go against you liking Johnson or anything but to call Son’s goal “a nice assist” by Johnson is a bit bonkers.
Yea fair mate 1 nice assist probs more accurate, but I just quite like and rate Johnson and think for a 22yr old he has so much potential to become really good. But each to their own.

Reminds me a bit of Dele in that when the play is quick he's at his best. Seems to thrive in reactionary situations. When the build up is slower and he has to think more he's not at his best.

Yet another goal involvement and some people are still moaning about him.
Stupid comment.

So he got one assist and aside from that he was largely ineffective (that’s being kind).

It’s not all rainbows with Spurs you know - people are allowed to air disappointment / concern.

Nah people are on his back almost every week now. He’s having a positive impact on our results involved in both goals.

If he’s not playing today, we don’t win. Simple as that.

People are moaning about him every fucking week.

He's producing end product nearly every game.

First season, peoples expectatios are stupid.

Why the constant need to focus on negatives? Why do people rush to player threads to moan after a hard fought win?

Johnson wasn't great, but he wasn't bad either. His assist for the first goal was excellent, and he was by no means our worst player.

He's still young enough where he can improve on his 1 v 1 effectiveness.

I think he can beat most fullbacks in league for pace and would like to see him get into more footraces and use his speed to greater effect.

What is certainly clear is that he's not as fit as he needs to be for Ange's system yet.

Not that I’ve seen to be honest.

He was great against Newcastle, his best performance in a spurs shirt in my opinion and all I saw was positives in here.

I also saw people acknowledge that he was better playing off the right (something I agree with).

He struggled today and as this is a forum it’s not unusual for people to air their opinions. If people can’t wait to jump on his back that’s their problem, but some of the over egging of his display today is pure revisionism. I’m sure he’d be the first to admit it wasn’t his best display (assist for Richy aside)
