Got to be honest, think Davies gets a hard time on here.

Is he our first choice? No.
Does he complain that he should be starting? No.
Is he good enough to start every game? No.
Is he good enough to be a back up and occasionally play the LCB in a 3? IMO yes.

Think defenders get a hard time as they are normally up against the focal point of the opposition. I view him in the same vein as Sissoko, back up squad player, good attitude.

Would be happy to upgrade him, with the current financial issues just don't see it happening.

Don't think Sess being thrown in at the deep end would help him, he is still learning the defensive side of his game and doubt he would be played as a LB in a 4 away to city etc.

Totally disagree I don’t think he is good enough to be back up now! You need your back up to be similar in style to your first choice so your game isn’t affected much! Reggie is dynamic and quick so we need a back up similar which sess will be.... also disagree with your city statement .... not many people could do worse than Davies did yday he got destroyed every single time .... sess at least had pace and could have dealt with Sterling better due to it! Look at Leicester their back up full backs don’t take anything away from their game when they play bar fuch who plays once in a blue moon!

How the fuck can people blame individual players with the dogshit tactics we play with... Davies is the least of our problems. Jose will NEVER start Sess, and that tell the full story.

He's currently averaging more key passes per 90 than Semedo, Bertrand, Walker, Pereira, Mendy, Zinchenko. lol ?

if people cant see with their own two eyes how shit this guy has been for all his time with us. the only time he looked decent was when we had walker toby and jan at the back and even then he was still our biggest weak link.
if you watch the games you can see he is targeted by managers and players every time, that alone should tell you how other teams see him not just us

Agree that ideally you want your players to be similar so it's not such a big change. Like I said if we had the ability to I'd upgrade him. Just think he takes a kicking off some on here that is unnecessary.

If you honestly think Sess would do better against some of the best players in the league due to more pace, you are in for a shock when he comes back.

This isn't fifa pace is not the be all and end all, will certainly help getting up and down the pitch but in terms of defending against top players pace makes little to no difference. Decision making, positioning, reading of the game all far more important.

Davies struggled yesterday, but not in a month of Sundays would Sess play in front of him away against the top teams in a back 4.

I don't mind Davies as a backup LB and LCB when we play with a back three. Moving forward, Sessegnon and Reguillon should be preferred. Davies strikes me as the type of player who would be happy as a back-up to step in where the team needs him. At this point, Ben has reached his limit of his potential and it's best we hedge our bets on our 2 talented left backs.

Playing every minute of every game at present and still as dependable as ever, an unsung hero.

If Ben had pace I think he would be one of the top 5 left backs in the world, alas he doesn’t but still makes the very most of what he can offer
