Isn't this exactly what Poch wants to change? He's been banging on about it for a good couple seasons now and it's still the same old story. We've seen time and again how detrimental it can be for incoming players to not have a preseason under their belt.

Thing is, even if we get Lo Celso and Sess, I would still be worried about Poch leaving come next summer. Because if there's anything we've learnt this window is that Levy will never change.

so what would you of done differently concerning GLC and Sess

Probably would have upped the offers on both players and then when it looked close, Betis would raise the price even further. Resulting in us being in the same position as now, with neither signed up, but more money on the table.

It's fair enough having a price you want to pay and sticking to it. But if they won't budge, then you warn them you will move on and sound out the representatives of player B and you set a deadline for the final offer. Chances are in this case Betis will cave but if they don't then we have to move on.

Now this may very well be Pochettino's fault too. You need a reasonable list of players for this reason, the manager has to be prepared to be flexible enough to work with a larger pool of potential players. At this point we don't know if he is.

But, assuming we have a very short list of targets for each position, and we're working within a strict budget, then that's a recipe for huge gaps in the squad.

Judging by ghostofarmo’s ‘debala’ ITK, he looks like he will be Eriksen’s replacement - imagine all the ways you can misspell his name!!

I agree with this fully. Not having a plan b is suicidal. Its ok if you don't want a fourth/fifth option, but one set player is fair too rigid.

I'm sure Levy and Poch must discuss the strategy with negotiating.
The abstract value of a player comes from Poch while it should fit in with the financial figure somewhat. Add in some Supply and Demand and the options available.Im sure they must discuss this daily as it's big moolah.

From watching Dybala’s 2018/19 highlights he seemed to play more in the Eriksen role than as a striker/wide forward. Unless and subject to signing Lo Celso drops deeper, I don’t see why we would go for both Dybala and Lo Celso.

....... NDombele.... Winks..... Lo Celso .....

......... Son ............. Kane ...... Dybala..........

or

................ NDombele.... Winks......................
............................... Dybala ............................

.............. Son ........ Kane ....... Alli .................

We haven't played either of those systems in pre-season. It would likely be

Ndombele/Sissoko----Winks/Dier----Lo Celso/Alli
Dybala/Lamela
Kane/Parrott----Son/Moura
Opens into a Diamond with essentially a double pivot

Hope to god we dont go with the diamond.

Diamond only works when you have two quick attack minded full backs.... at the movement we have 2 recognised right backs, one is injured and the other is too light weight. At left back Rose has been frozen out and Davies albeit a very good defender, is a sloth.

Based on the current squad, you’re looking at:

............................... Lloris .............................

Panic ...Alderweireld... Vertonghen... Panic

............................... Winks ............................
................ NDombele.... Eriksen .................
..................................Alli ...............................

...................... Kane........ Son .......................

Top 2 no chance, top 4 may be, top 6 likely.

Firstly, the name is Pjanic - not Panic.

Secondly, I don’t think he has a brother - like the wing back, Ryan Sessegnon, who we’re evidently interested in acquiring.

Thirdly, Pjanic is a midfielder - not a wing back.

On the other hand, all this talk of Dybala may be a smokescreen for the Club’s interest in Juventus’ Bosnian midfielder, Miralem Pjanic.

Well done on that!

With respect to affording Dybala surely the £20 million we saved on the Ndombele deal and if we can save the £20 million on Lo Celso and the £10 million on Sessignon means we've almost covered his fee, just goes to show the advantage of not paying the first figure you are quoted.

We didn't save a cent, we were never paying asking price for any of them, and so far we don't even have 2 of them.

Of course we weren't but lots of people on here said we should pay the price and just get it done and if we had done and if we do with the other two that's £50million up the spout and definitely no chance of buying Dybala. People can't have it both ways.
