Haven't heard anything about an appeal for the second yellow card Wilson recieved that ultimately led to his red card. This will surely lead to a one match ban. So why haven't we appealled it?

If I recall correctly the ref can rescind a yellow card having reviewed the incident after the game and decided he got it wrong, but as mentioned above, no appeal is possible.

The only silver lining is that the two yellows don't get added to the "totting up" of yellow cards, which given Wilson's poor record could lead to a three match ban for getting more than 15 yellows in a season.

You cannot appeal two yellows. It's yet another crazy rule from our soccer big wigs.

So really (other than the result) it is a good thing he got two yellows and not one?

As I said, it was finding a silver lining to that particular cloud. Although he has picked up a one match ban against the hammers, there are still enough games left for him to still pick up an additional three match ban given the frequency of yellow cards.

Does the red card not count in the fair play league for uefa qualification? I thought I heard somewhere that we were 2nd in this list.
Anyway I'm pretty sure that a ref can only rescind a yellow card before it goes in his match report. I'm sure we would have heard about this by now.

Yeah, it does count in the fair play league, but due to it being for two yellows not for the individual totting up process.

Last time I checked we were about 7th in the fair play league I think, with Fulham top, which I think means we'll be unlikely to sneak in to the Europa league this year. I also think England are down the fair play rankings as well, so England may not even get a place this year.

i think it's highly unlikely that england will get a fair play spot, so it doesn't really matter. it is very annoying that palacios can't be here for the spammers though >_<

I think the referee should admit when he's wrong and wipe the yellow, but I don't see this particular referee having the class to do that so I guess we will lose one of our most needed players because of an incompetent referee.

It's a tough old world out there.

we could appeal on the fact that this referee is actually beyond the FA's referee retirement age, only kept on as he passed all the fitness tests, apparently - so that's all it takes now? Doesn't matter how many "senior moments" you have, or how mad you appear to be, as long as you can keep up with the run of play, you're alright with them

We should have the result scratched and play it again, with a referee who conforms to ALL of the rules the FA have laid out. Yet again, we fall foul of a rather convoluted loophole.
