Slot enthusiasts: know he typically plays with a 4back but has he played 3back in the past? Considering we have 5 wingbacks on the books, I’m unsure about his tactical fit. Leaning towards Anorim
Whatever will be will be. A good coach is flexible and a professional player should be able to be moulded into a system.

I am not concerned about tactics. We need a manager with the right mindset to boost the confidence levels of many of the players we have - the team has been beaten down for a few seasons now.

I am convinced that Slot has what it takes to do that - and he has the tactical nous to get the team playing well again. It might take a season to cull the club of some players, and get some key players in - but I believe that Slot is the man for that job.

Reality is though all it does is further hamper the new manager and the squad.
Sadly yes, but it’s mainly down to him and his board we’re in this situation in the first place.

They have enough money to start a rebuild properly if they really wanted to without European football for a season. I just don’t think they really do.

Why? they have nothing left to play for. Hardly going to have fans on the pitch rioting after winning them the league is he
Put yourself in the same shoes, Slot comes here and we somehow win the league but just before the last home game of the season, it’s announced that he’s off to Real Madrid.

Would sour the taste.

Let them have their moment, another couple of weeks makes no difference to the season.

Got to feel sorry for the poor fucker whoever he is. Players who can’t be bothered, a chairman who can’t make a right decision and fans who are fed up with both of them making their feelings heard every game. A pretty difficult job for anyone.

So no difference to exactly a week ago then

Tottenham have resumed talks with former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann, although he wants to know who will be sporting director before committing. (Times - subscription)
You would hope that the resumption in the talks means we can now provide the answer to that question?

It's an extremely difficult job. Our squad is bloated and unbalanced, full of players we don't want but can't sell, most on high wages. Beyond a highly expensive mass cancellation of contracts, which won't happen, it's hard to see much room for squad development, especially with us not having the income or prestige that European football brings. On top of this our star player is likely to leave, a process that will probably be so long drawn out that there will be no time to sign a replacement.
We're gonna have to try to be really patient with the next guy and understand that next season top half of the PL might be all we can achieve. We need to give him time to clear out our dysfunctional squad, bring in his own guys, and start bringing through academy players.

Personally I wouldn’t really be excited with any manager until I know who the DoF is. In the end of the day we have a big summer ahead where we really need to bring in the right players. Even if we brought in a phenomenal manager, if the players we give him are sub par we will not be achieving anything.

Let him pick the DoF ffs, or at least have an input into the discussion so everybody's at least on the same page otherwise we're going to be running back to him with a name every few days and just waste yet more time. Giving the football people actual tangible control of the football side is long overdue.

If the JN reports are true then this is heading to a predictable scenario where he eventually turns us down, by which time we’ve pissed Slot off by messing him around for too long and we end up with Rogers.

Donna’s plan all along perhaps?

FFS - this is, as ever, a mess.

I would rather have a motivated, hungry Slot, who has done something special with a middling side, than another high profile individual who thinks he’s doing us a favour.

Time to get real about the kind of club we are and the total mess we’re in.

If we fuck around (and miss out on) Slot, because Levy thinks he’s a bad-ass, that will, 100% be ”It” for Daniel.

He is one minute to midnight on the doomsday clock. As are we.

Get this wrong, and it’s all out ‘Levy out’ mutiny. Make an appointment SOON. Make it someone who understands the situation we’re in, and is focused on making the most of WHAT WE HAVE, not WHAT HE WANTS.

Last chance saloon Daniel. How on Earth has it taken this long?

Our best RB / wb is royale. The rest barring udogie are questionable right now. Porro has time to change that but sessegnon, Davies and Perisic in a defensive perspective aren't good enough.

We need an overhaul regardless

I personally would want Slot over JN. To me he has a more impressive resume in taking middling teams up a notch. Plus I just like his aura more. He just seems a Tottenham manager to me.
