He keeps eating my posts as funny.

I can be weird but this guy is another level.

Still talking about me whilst I have absolutely no idea who you are or interest in your opinions.

The fact that you can’t read where I clearly said the BBC’s guidelines clearly don’t apply to Lineker and that he didn’t say the Tories were Nazi’s genuinely isn’t my problem.

Now if you could take your repeated personal abuse and reign it in against a fellow Spurs fan that would be much appreciated.

  1. Viewing figures for Saturday's show were up by half a million, to more than 2.5m
Get rid of all pundits , MOTD viewing figures up.
I imagine a lot of that was people tuning in to see what happened. If it’s not resolved this time next week and the viewing figures still rise then you might have a point.

I found it odd they also dropped the whole intro and justwent straight in. It was weird. Like they were embarrassed to put it on at all.

Another piece of misinformation. The BBC guidelines do apply despite your claim they don’t as he is self-employed.

As a sports or entertainment presenter he is allowed to air political views as long as they are clearly his own and not the BBC’s.

Your claim that he is allowed to as a self-employed worker os simply false.

Everytime a story like this hits the news we have to scramble around all the bullshit and get to the actual facts.

It’s much harder when posters like continuously state falsehoods.

I’m not convinced the lack of any d it’s is the reason for increased viewing figures this week. More curiosity for the show is more likely in my opinion.

But the only way to prove that is for no pundits to be the norm.

They will bring back pundits but a condensed show like last night's ought to be made available on the Iplayer for those who happy to watch highlights with just crowd noise as Amazon make available on their coverage .

All I really want is extended highlights and match stats.

The football is the entertainment I want. What should be filler has taken over the programs.

It was good to see the tories running the greatest hits of playing the man and not the ball on Laura Kuenssberg this morning. First he said those defending lineker were also calling for Clarkson to be sacked which is 1) whataboutery at its finest 2) an unprovable generalisation (i defended lineker but didn’t call for Clarkson to be sacked, just thought he was a cock) and 3) is ludicrous because the idea that criticising the language a government used to promote a policy is comparable to calling for a woman to be dragged naked through the streets is comparable is insane.

He then moved onto claim lineker ‘owed his profile to his position at the BBC’ which is also bollocks - he got his position at the bbc because of his public profile earned by being one of England’s finest ever strikers.

shameful but not remotely surprising

Yep, media discussion is as low as the worst parts on here.

People really lack in critical thinking and people get too involved with their right to an opinion without caring about the facts.

“The people who say this are the same people who say this” is a common nonsensical approach people use to make a point.

Same as when they claim hypocrisy. It’s as good as guaranteed that their example involves no hypocrisy.

I just watched MOTD on iPlayer. I actually loved the no presenters format, it gave me a feeling of immersion that you otherwise do not get. It was kinda like watching an in car feed from Le Mans

It's a bollocks distinction, Phil and we all know it because if Lineker wanted to be more nuanced he wouldn't have gone with "reminiscent of 1930's Germany".

The laughing emjois are because you're running a laughable thesis. Everyone knows what Lineker meant and why he used the exact words he used.

The real issue is that people like yourself, and @'O Zio and @Thenewcat know it's problematic to casually invoke 1930's Germany because it's pretty goddam offensive to a lot of people who were murdered by the Nazis. You don't want to be problematic but you also think the government are acting like Nazi's and don't want to water down that self-righteousness. Fair enough. Hyperbole has its place. Gets the message across. But you remain uncomfortable...

Which leaves all of you making a completely nonsensical circular argument whereby Lineker isn't calling the Government Nazi's but is also calling them Nazi's but you know there's and important distinction that you plebs don't get but we do ...

There is no distinction. Lineker wrote what he wrote. A lot of us agree with his sentiment. Some of us are uncomfortable with this choice of analogy. Some think it's total bollocks. But please don't insult your intelligence and mine with this "important distinction" bollocks. I'm not litigating Lineker and you're not his lawyer (afaik) (y)

Anyway - he should never have been stood down and the Govt shouldn't be interfering with BBC but that's a proper and more meaningful debate.:D
This seems reasonably accurate in my opinion. Despite generally being in agreement with a lot of Linekers stance - it’s seemed pretty obvious to me what his intention with those words were.

As opposed to all of the previous motd episodes that pick and choose which goals to include.

And what kind of fucking weirdo makes their way to the pub at 2245 for one pint at last orders

That was exactly my first thought upon reading that.
Surely any normal person spends the day in the pub, watching the games available and the other scores coming in, then leaves in time to grab a couple of beers and a kebab in time to settle in and watch MOTD?
Fucking weirdos on social media these days. 🤣

Edit. Oh, just noted he's an MP, that explains the abnormal behaviour. 😁

I think people are reading an inference into what he said that isn’t there. Let me try my example again. If an African Anglican bishop said that homosexuality was a western abomination and I said they were using language reminiscent of Vladimir Putin, it doesn’t mean that I am saying they are Vladimir Putin or they agree with his policies on gay rights or anything else. Lineker specially talked about the language used. All the other accusations are just trying to distract from the fact that they are unable to defend themselves from the accusation at hand (which is unsurprising as it’s true)

Or maybe just maybe, he’s a Tory MP so wanted to find a way to suggest the show was better off without the uppity pleb who can’t keep his mouth shut…
