I really like Simakan. I think it would be a good move, on the condition that it doesn't impact pursuits of more urgent needs such as wingers, striker, DM.
With CL looking fairly likely, and even the EL I suspect Ange would take seriously anyway, we need more first XI standard players to chop and change between. He can cover Porro or Romero and has experience at a high level.

We don’t need more RCB’s!

Whilst I agree we don't 'need' more of this type of player, the chance to sign someone as good as Simakan shouldn't be passed up, as long as the finances are right, IMO.
Look at City, they had Akanji, Dias, Stones, Ake, Lewis & Walker last season then replaced Laporte with Gvardiol. If we want to compete with these teams, we need to act like them.
If Porro or Romero get injured for any length of time it means Emerson (Who isn't suited to how we play at all) or Dragusin, who is still very much a case of juries out, playing regularly. Other areas are more urgent sure, but that doesn't mean we can't improve our defensive options at the same time!

Would rather a RB that can cover CB than other way around. Sell Royal and we still have some very highly rated youths to cover CB also if needed.

Not an area we need to really look at unless we sell a CB.

Would assume if we brought him in it would be to play RB rather then CB. Quality player but a lot of money for a back up, I know Royal isn’t perfect but I would have thought LB/LCB would take priority.

I would suggest that if we want to compete with City, acting like them would be the worst thing to do. Their underlying financial situation is different to everyone else in the league, so taking a different approach is going to be better way to compete.

City shouldn't be used as a benchmark for squad building in my opinion. They can afford to have that number of high level players because they can afford massive wages and a near certainty of some kind of winner's medal each year.

Given our performances this year, I don't think we need to have £50m players as rotation options everywhere on the pitch. There are always going to be very good players available, so I don't see a €70m release clause as a smart move personally.

More pressing areas to be spending €70m on IMO, namely DM and a winger. LB/LCB cover needed but realistically they will be fourth choice. Someone like Lloyd Kelly is fine, and if we were going to spend big then I'd rather Murillo personally.

There was an article written whenAnge joined Spurs (can't find it now), that explained in his second season, he often changes the shape, with one of the full backs making a back three when attacking, and the other moves up, to form what is like a 3-3-4. Maybe that's why he are seeing links to the likes of Simakan and Hincapie.

I have noticed that Udogie has at times dropped in like that.
