Just because chelseas fans are a bunch of massive ****s doesn’t mean Poch is. He expected a call from Levy and didn’t get it. Then chelsea came in for him and was the only big club that did. Ofcourse he takes the job. Chelsea is perfect for poch, and after a couple of titles he will get his dream madrid move.

Love ya Pochie, hate you Levy
yup. I really fucking hate levy

I really think we passed up on him because when he was here last time he wanted sole responsibility for signings.

Then when he got those choices we ended up spending a huge chunk of all the CL earnings on 2 players that ended up proving a massive waste.

By this regard, going back to Poch would mean they'd have to first admit they were wrong to fire him, but more importantly relinquish control to him on these matters and after the clubs 'inquest' into their transfer mistakes, I reckon they were really put off by some of Poch's signings/targets.

It also sounds like they went down the data/performance director route a little while back and Poch is probably dead against that .

Ossie Ardiles has said at a Supporter Event that Poch was waiting for the call but it never came, what else was he supposed to do?

I don’t think we’ll be disappointed for too long.

A lot of managers have managed us and them, it does feel weird that they've got one of "ours" though.

The 2+1 contract seems short by their chairman's standards, I wonder why that is. Let's hope he's not learning from his mistakes 🤣

But for the next 2+1 years, I hope he steps on a plug every morning, he's Chelsea now 🤷🏽‍♂️

Im stung by the situation but not really stung because he is at Chelsea but more we are in this predicament where we are scrambling around for a coach when we had Poch gagging for us.

Youre right we do need to move on from Poch but that will make it harder if we dont make the right appointment coupled with him being successful whilst we become basically Everton. All on Levy this entire situation.
Nail on the head.
I didn’t want him back originally but then we heard he wanted to come back and finish the job off.
It was all just too simple for DL to pick up the phone, made too much sense, DL and Co are the only people to blame here, not Poch. He’s a highly thought of coach and he couldn’t wait around forever.
We should have been biting his arm off when it became apparent he was up for a return, especially as he knows how DL & Co operate, the fact that he even wanted to come back with DL still at the helm is astounding.
Maybe that was the problem though, they know if they appointed Poch and it went wrong not only would he call them out but they’d have a full blown mutiny on their hands and DL would have to walk.
It feels like not appointing Poch from their perspective is a safer option for them because of how well he is regarded by us and the media as bizarre as it sounds.

I won’t wish him well because I hate Chelsea, But I’m also not that bothered by this. He’s a free agent and could take any job he pleases. We sacked him and haven’t bothered to try and rehire him, so it is what it is.

More concerned with the state we’re in than what that lot are doing.

There are far too many spurs fans being reasonable about this, and frankly it disturbs me... :grumpy:
I think it has a lot to do with a lot of us, me very much included, falling more out of love with top level football. I'm nowhere near as emotionally invested as I was pre-pandemic, whether the pandemic or Levy or the obscene money or Nation States club owners or any other factor is the primary cause is by the by.

I'd get a season ticket to Brann here in Norway if I weren't working most home match weekends. That's the club my kid will grow up with. It's a good enough standard to enjoy and to aspire to without all the obscene bullshit of the highest PL and CL level.

So Poch going to Chelsea is hugely disappointing, but it's another nail in an already sturdy coffin.

I am similar now down in Stavanger and certainly spent far more time watching the Oilers play last season than Tottenham or football in general.

Similar to you my 4 year old now plays for the oilers and so far more interesting to spend time around hockey. Plus they win and so thats a pleasant surprise.

I wonder how's he going to manage with the ten billion players they have and no Europe to play them in. Might turn toxic quite fast. Especially if they continue their transfer market antics. We'll see.

Agree. Too many well wishes and not enough effigies for my liking.
I assume its because there is still a deep down feeling/hope that he wont be overly successful there/become a legend and will come home one day. If we go full rage and get personal, he'll never come back and its the hope of an ex girlfriend you still love taking you back one day...

Personally I am gutted and I hope we treat him with pure ambivalence/silence whenever he returns. I think its fair to say this wont have been a straight forward decision for him, but as a squad/project its an exciting chance for him, young highly talented squad which is hugely underperforming and in need of a people manager to mould them into a team with the potential to develop into a proper team with unity.

The fact its Chelsea is fucking grim, but if it was any other side in Europe outside of London you'd say its a no brainer for him. There arent really any other big high profile jobs around this summer apart from Napoli, where the only way is down, so if we didnt want him, I can see his position being you only get one career, got to get on with it at some point.
