It's what happens when you're in the top echelon of clubs and make shit signings. Exact same thing happened to Arsenal and United when they signed a load of shite - ended up having to pay players to leave or loan them out for years.

Very hard to shift average players of big contracts in a post-covid market when no European clubs have money.
Players like Doherty, Gil etc have squad functions that should be occupied by academy talent really - or should be experienced players brought in on free transfers. Spend most of your money to get a top quality 18 players, and fill the rest with academy players and decent free transfers should be the strategy for us.

Can we not sell anyone? This is getting ridiculous now. If there is no money abroad FP needs to create some links to English teams. We're going to have 40 guys show up to training in pre-season.

Good luck to Doc, seems a nice guy.

Didn't he have a reputation at Juventus for not being able to sell players either. We know why now though don't we, was too busy getting up to other things!

All these loans do nothing but cause problems in the summer when we cant afford to buy players and cant generate fees for these players either.

Genuinely bewildering how bad we are at selling players.
It's because Daniel Levy is like a vendor from an RPG.
buy something from you for 20 florins and sell it straight back for 200.
Or you buy something from him for 3000 crowns and he'll buy it back off you for 200.
He basically lives his live as if he's in Skyrim...
That's why those chants at the stadium are risky as one day Levy will tire and FUS - ROH - DAH everyone in the stadium! (would be fun to see though :cautious: )

Doherty 31 , Royal 24 , Matt's transfer value going down , Emerson on the way up according to transfermarket figures .
From a financial point of view makes sense to keep Emerson

Yeah. Easy to say with hindsight, but if we'd just persevered with Kyle Walker Peters we would've saved ourselves years of upheaval in that position, the best part of 60-70m, and with a homegrown player on low wages.

KWP is not an elite RB, but nor are Doherty, Aurier, Royal or Spence (yet). Kyle's got better technique than any of them and, overall, I think he would've done a better job there.

We're not great at it, for sure... but you do have to factor in that all around Europe, teams on the whole don't have money. So our average to below average players aren't gonna do there because they can't afford 'em.

As for the premier league clubs, who'd buy 'em?

Transfer Window is a buyers market atm, not many PL teams are really shifting players significantly. Least we're getting them out for now even if these are temporary fixes

Very pleased for Doherty to find a move away from the club. Good professional, but nowhere near the quality we needed. Let's hope he does enough to secure a permanent transfer there in the summer. I really don't want to see us going into another season with him at the club.

somewhat the issue with our club. I would rather we look at the footballing point of view sometimes as I would rather Doc be a backup to Porro than Royal. That said, it would require someone actually wanting Royal

Not that I wasn't a fan of the Conte appointment - but really want our next manager to have a proven record with integrating academy talent. It makes building a squad so much easier when you have a chairman like Levy. And if there are still gaps then these days there are so many quality free transfers that would easily be good enough to fill the bench for us. Our lack of free transfer activity has been another baffling one to me for that reason, although I guess we brought Forster and Perisic in last season.

Does depend on who made the final decision on the Doc loan, maybe Conte prefers Royal as backup.
