We needed a CB before we sold the best one at the club. We need a proper back up or someone to play along side Kane if he stays, if he goes we'll need 2.

Right now, we are going into the start of the season weaker than when last season ended. We have a hell of a lot to do.
It depends on the influence those players we bought in have on the others.

Romero is coming in as a senior defender, if he's controlling the back line the likes of Dier and Sanchez only have to play off him. A much easier role than having to make their own decisions.

Skipp can play the DM role allowing PEH to play further up the pitch. And with two hard working CMs, the more attacking role may be allowed to push on more.

And if Gil is as good as I think he can provide more than Lamela and Moura with no loss in effort as well as provide a genuine outlet (he appears to have a great touch) when we're pressed.

I know that's a lot of 'ifs' but I think the players we have bought/returned provide more balance to the team than we had last season.

I'd still like a second CB, CM, RB, and striker but I believe our current starting eleven will perform better than last year (assuming Kane starts).

So if Paratici has Kane money to spend then I for one am happy we have him here to spend it. So far his signings have looked spot on so can only imagine the other signings. The Romero one has really set the expectation I have now for incomings.

Could do with Hitchen throwing some name in of HG players

Yeah slightly concerned at the lack of HG links, especially if it's Kane and potentially Winks leaving. Think that leaves us with 7 so we're already 1 squad space short.

Having said that, English clubs are basically the only ones seemingly not being affected too much by COVID so maybe this is the summer to shop abroad then focus on HG players down the line. There also aren't too many top HG players around atm.

JWP and Madueke, maybe?

Idk we haven't really been linked to anyone else who is HG. It will be interesting to see how Paratici approaches it.

I thought Madueke didn't qualify (going on other people's posts) as he left too young

As disappointing as the whole kane situation has been it does present a real opportunity for the club, I'm cautiously optimistic that we are in a good place to take advantage of it

Not really that much of a need of HG. Sess, Skipp, Scarlett, John all can be part of the squad now.
I rather fear we will struggle to get rid of unwanted players like Serge, Sissoko or Sanchez.

I think I remember someone saying that if we signed him this year, he would count as HG next year.

Might be wrong though.

edit: I am wrong lol, if we signed him this summer he would be HG by the 2023/24 season.

Replace Sanchez with Winks and I agree 110% with this. The out’s are just as important IMO.

Big job on his hands to spend the HK money, (when it finally comes) just ?? that it’s not left too late & so we don’t miss out on anyone due to timing ?

Calvert-Lewin feels like the obvious one but would require a significant amount of money and a push from the player.
