"Other colleagues of his with the Australia national team say he was the perfect Postecoglou player — someone who despite not being the most technical was unflinchingly brave (a Postecoglou buzzword) and would always show for the ball and play progressive passes as instructed.
He was also a phenomenal trainer and at all his clubs viewed as a model pro, including Palace, where he captained the side, and Villa, where he was the de facto dressing-room leader and held in extremely high regard"

This extract describes Mile Jedinak but who in our squad does it remind you of the most?

I think Pierre will surprise a few people

I'm excited but also writing off this season as the initial rebuild. Therefore no real expectations at this stage other than some positive football
Absolutely this.

Hopefully majority of fans think the same. He says himself that first 6 months can be very inconsistent & his early results usually aren't great. We need to accept this as fans and think of longer term. If fans have that approach then so will our board.

Getting the same feeling but I don't expect a significant number of our fans to give him enough time. He needs three or four Transfer windows and a couple of seasons to really get us playing his way. Will we give him that amount of time ? I don't think so.

I'm much happier giving Ange a few windows to get stuff sorted out than Mourinho or Conte. We'd have ended up with a squad jam packed with geriatric has beens if we'd given them what they wanted.

I think a lot of fans are willing to give new managers that first season (assuming we’re not in a relegation fight). It’s the 2nd season when we start to get impatient.

Read various Celtic journos/fans saying that since Ange arrived there he never said a wrong word. Based on his initial interviews at Spurs I'm starting to see where they're coming from.

Can't recall another Spurs manager in my lifetime speaking so well upon his arrival.

(Cue 2 points in 8 games again ).

This especially applies when we hire what we deem to be a 'project' manager (e.g. Jol, Poch). When we hire the likes of Mourinho/Conte, fans want instant success because those managers also want to win now.

This is why both of those choices were doomed to fail and why I think this approach suits us better as a club.

If by 'season' you mean a block of three months, I agree.

Not saying 2 points in 8 games will happen, as long as we've invested in that defence :)rolleyes:), but I do think we'll need to be prepared for some rough results/runs this season.

Players coming in are young and the rest will be transitioning to a new style of football that revolves around bravery. Patience is going to be a key theme and word this season.

I think we’ll get a couple of surprise results against some big teams this year but we’ll also lose a few games against some teams we should be beating. All in all we’ll win more games than we’ll lose. If he can get us 6th or higher that would be very good for a first season imo. I won’t be too disappointed with an 8th place finish (especially if we have a proper go at the cups and get to a final in one of them)

Finishing outside the top 10 will be a little worrying but I won’t start shitting the bed unless it looks like it’s going that way again in the second season.

Yes, he basically takes the view that if they aren't doing what he wants them to do, he has to teach them better. A slightly different approach to Conte!

Also like that he says it's him that's wrong if players make a mistake when doing as he instructs them to..
Thought that was a brilliant thing to say as it alleviates players fears of cocking things up a bit somewhat.

Sky Sports feature on our new gaffer and his job at Spurs:

I think he means 180... and not 360.

I have high hopes that he will actually coach our players to a higher level and have them operating as a team. I'm hopeful that he can get results from the likes of Reguillon and Spence who need to get back up the pecking order. He does seem to be able to turn things around quickly and get everybody singing off the same hymn sheet, and best of all, he sounds like he'll take his share of responsibility if things go awry.
