We fans scream for more loyalty in players when we ourselves have none. We claim to be fans and supporters of our beloved club. The shirt comes first and so on...
And what do we do? We are constantly bashing our own players, even those that bleed for us every week. Like Mourinho said. These guys are heroes, they are monsters (in a good way).

So maybe Defoe isn't as good as he used to be. I can agree to that, but constantly talking crap in this forum about a player that has....hold your breath.......139 goals in about 330 games for us???? Most of those appearances as a substitute. The guy is a record breaker for our club and a legend. Give the guy the respect he has earned. He is going to Toronto soon, it shouldn't be too much to ask.

Dawson has played 281 games for us. Many of them as captain. He has currently gone through a rough patch, but this guy has shown again and again that he has quality. He has shut Milan out, played in the quarter-final in the CL, been a cornerstone in teams that has gotten us to two 4th places in the league and has four caps for England. And you dare disrespect him in the manner many of you do. He oozes commitment and class and if his name was something more spanish and played in a continental league you would probably be raving about him.

Like Jol said. You can think what you want, but please don't post your crap here anymore. Its disheartening. And doing so makes me think you are pricks. Now for that NLD. And if Defoe or Daws plays you better sing like madmen, because they need all the support they can get.

COYS!

It is not about claiming people are idiots, but more about supporting you own players. Many people on here seem to forget that.

Is this directed at anyone in particular or are you tarring us all with the same brush?

There are as many on here that back/defend Defoe as there are shoot him down, yet you go off on one as though the entire fn complement detest him.

I guess all those 'Jermaine Defoe, he's a Yiddo' chants were imagined?

By all means back him a a supporter, I applaud it and echo it as, whilst he wears the shirt, he's one of ours and deserves it for the effort and commitment he displays.

But be careful about pigeon holing everyone into your rant, it's wildly inaccurate and offensive to suggest that our fans, many of whom have followed this club for well over 30 years, have no loyalty, particularly when the player in question gets as much backing on here as he does derision.

Many people on here understand this is an internet forum where they discuss their club.

Who'd have guessed that a site with hundreds of members would have a mixture of people? Some are negative, some are positive, some takes everything seriously, some are light-hearted, some are very articulate and some struggle to form an opinion that isn't ridiculously one-sided and over the top.

I feel free here to criticise players when they play poorly or I just don't think they're good enough. I'm no longer a kid who believes everything Spurs is brilliant. When I get to watch games I support the players but here I'm totally free to share my views.

I don't think mine are particularly harsh but I don't worry too much about those who are more cutting. Takes all sorts to make a world and the internet is not as serious a place as many would try to make out it is.

Apologies you didn't say people are idiots, you said they are pricks which is kind of worse.

I don't care how long you've been a Spurs fan or how many games you've been to unless you are constantly on the internet saying our players are heroes and are all brilliant you ain't no real fan.

For me Jermain Defoe will never be a club legend. I'll welcome him back if he turns up at the Lane for a half time announcement or something, but he is certainly not one of the club greats.

I'm a prick.

Crazy thread, I don't understand the point? You are saying we are nott loyal true fans and supporters because we can all see that two ordinary below par (for a top top club) players are ordinary and below par.

Looks like a duck quacks like a duck, it's probably a duck.

Ps. As for having 4 caps for England being an achievement Mathew Upson has 21 caps. Do you really think Dawson is the bomb?

Love dawson and defoe. They will never be maldini or shearer but they have been great servants of this club and will always be looked on fondly.
If either is to leave they will go with my best wishes and always be welcome at the lane.

Think that some of our fans do slag off our players a bit too much. I understand they are passionate but the hounding of some players is out of order. Jenas got slaughtered which i think was very unfair.

You'll always hear our fans sing Defoe and Dawson songs, they're still loved, but they're both on the decline now. I don't really have a problem with people having an opinion on here either, it would be boring if we all thought the same, I don't think that means they're any less loyal.

There has been a lot of shit going down with this club through the last 7-8 years. Hirings, firings, a relegation fight, champions league, near misses, getting screwed on the last day etc. This season has been another rollercoaster (slow and boring one for a while though) there have been many knee jerk reactions and impatient people (me included) . I don't think loyalty is an issue otherwise we'd just give up completely

Just a couple of points.

Firstly to say most of Defoe's appearances were as sub would mean more that half of the 330 for us have been as sub. I use league only as the subs appearance stats are easier to find of the 274 appearances in the PL for us only 92 have been as sub so in my book that isn't most of those as a sub as you claim.

Secondly didn't Dawson just reach his 300th game for us against Man City?

Apart from that we should support the players when on the field of play but that shouldn't stop players being criticised on this forum. If we didn't all have differing opinions on players we wouldn't have much to argue about.
