If we get Dragusin over the line I really can't see Kelly being interested tbh. Van de Ven, Dragusin and Davies give us loads of cover at LCB and we have Sessegnon, Davies and VdV all capable at LB. He'll want game time and barring another freak injury crisis, I struggle to see that happening here.

Davies should be LB cover not LCB cover plus he's 30.

Kelly would be our future and would get a ton of gametime when we are back in europe.

Gotta be honest mate, I don't think Davies can play that role now.

He played it against Palace but looked awkward when having to play inverted and was not effective at all past the half way line.

I think the CB role suits him more, he hasnt really been skinned either like he would do at LB.

His positioning at CB has been very good

We need to get him now he can cover VDV and Udogie, he will get plenty of gametime

In a picture, I disagree.

Yea fair points but either way he's 30 and we are building for the future so I say get Kelly in and play him over Davies. We need all the bodies we can get tbh.

Agree. For years now we've needed to replace some of our ageing/not quite good enough players with younger players to keep the squad fresh.

Replacing Davies with Kelly is the sort of deals we should have been doing for the last 5+ years.

I still reckon he'll be happy to come to us even taking all your points into account.

You would think this one is a deadline day deal to drive the price down as much as possible if it happens

Complete mate and then we can phase Davies out over the next year or so.

I like Davies and he's done a good job for us when called upon. He seems like the kind of guy who would move on if told he was no longer required.

As much as I respect him I think this summer is the right time for both parties for him to depart.

Yeah Davies doesnt really seem to suit the inverted full back role and would imagine Royal would be called in to cover for Udowgie in first instance with current squad.

Davies seems to have been far more comfortable at left centre back, but given his age we need to start looking at more left side options at both left back and centre back.

I think Kelly can also cover left back as well?

If so would be a good option.

Also given our defenders seem susceptible to hamstring injuries, we need as much cover as possible.

Hopefully having sold Sanchez and looking like Dier will be off our books we can fully refresh our centre back options.

Yeah we should be making changes before said player has no sell in value and is shot— look at Rose, Verts, Toby and Lloris for example In recent times.

You gotta keep the squad constantly refreshed and look to solve problems before they become a problem.

Agree mate although he has 1.5 yrs left on his deal so he might stick around to run his deal down and absolutely no problem with that if so but as well as he’s done filling in at LCB and huge huge credit to him for that, he’s not the future so I’d like to see Kelly come in and Davies becomes effectively 5th choice CB and 3rd choice LB assuming Kelly can sufficiently play that role as well as CB.

Totally agree, if we get Drag and Werner over the line that may be one transfer left. For me I would prefer getting a CM in

If we get Kelly then we should probably sell Davies while his stock is high. He has been good though so not an easy one. I just think centre back is his best position for us and if we get 2 CBs it would make sense to move him on in the summer. Failing getting Kelly stick with Davies a while longer until hopefully one of Dorrington or Phillips is ready to replace him.

Davies is 31 soon he is not there for the long term and he is not a genuine centre back for next season in Europe we need 4 good centre backs like most top clubs do.. Come on guys if we going to think about challenging next season we need better options.. Davies good utility player like Emerson just in case of emergencies..

What exactly do you think the market is for 31-yo LB/CBs heading into the final year of their contract?

There are no "highs" - only lows at this stage when it comes to his transfer value.

A reasonable argument could be made just to keep him as the 5th CB - and have Phillips and Dorrington out on loan next season.

Yeah. Davies will be on 1 year extensions as a utility man for us until he decides to hang them up (or if he decides to go play for a season or two with a Welsh team at a lower level….i wonder if the wrexham project would be intriguing to him). But we’re never getting a real transfer fee for him and that’s fine.
