Business as usual over at KUMB. Makes for great reading. I did enjoy listening to my downstairs neighbour watching the game yesterday.

Apparently Bowen has turned into Charlie big potatoes, wants a move to liverpool but his missus doesn't want to move up there. As he's now played for England, he thinks he's made it. Rice is getting pelters, they're all clamouring for Nobles return to give the young man some guidance......

Hammers will be happy with how Cornet has looked today. I think he'll be a great signing for them. Though as I type, he just missed a sitter. In his defense it wasn't the greatest of passes to him.

I've seen enough glad in the knowledge they are through to the proper competition. That'll keep 'em busy

Got a little but of interesting info about Moyes.

A player who returned to his old club to visit his ex-colleagues told them that Moyes' tactical insights and training were outdated and even the coaches at his previous club were more intune/more interesting.

It doesnt surprise me. Moyes methods are simply get the ball forward quickly, run the channels and get crosses in. He has added some pressing to that to make sure teams get boxed in when they have players forward.

But he still relies on a low block and getting players behind the ball all over the field.

Their defeat versus City showed me that they'll struggle this year. Same tactics but missing something.

And that's the issue with Moyes, there's not much there after his basics fail.
I think this totally makes sense.

He did well initially at West Ham initially by steadying the ship after Pellegrini left. He got them organised, hard-working and made some good common sense transfers, culminating in a great Europa cup run.

But after a strong first year there have been diminishing returns. They look quite predictable and out of ideas - their form towards the end of last season was awful (6 defeats in their last 11 games) and it's absolutely no wonder a team like Brighton with a modern dynamic manager like Potter are running rings around them repeatedly. There's only so far hard work and organisation can get you in the PL these days and once that initial lift wears off, where do you go?

Overall he's done a better job than expected, but with all these big money signings coming in the expectation will be a lot higher. I wouldn't be remotely surprised if he gets sacked this season or next summer.

How come he wasn't shielded from abuse when he did the crossed hammer thing?
He forgot to back it up with flashing the stone island badge. That would have seen him power up into a mighty morphing bubble ranger :woot:

Hard to argue with this view. I forget who it was that's said Scamacca and Paquetta are champions league level signings, and the are, ability-wise. But they'll still be playing under Moyes, and West Ham looks a shell of the team that did so well last year. I can see it all going wrong and the big money signings wanting out in a years' time.

They might be champions league type signings but are they premier league? this league seems to be one that hard to adjust to for lots of players.

Moyes has always had success with types that come from quite tough leagues, where the players are hardened.

Cahill
Fellaini
Coufal
Soucek
etc

Moyes cannot coach players with class, as I previously mentioned due to his outdated tactics

I think it feels underwhelming because we've got this cash as a bonus. I honestly thought we'd be spending close to (even over) 200m, some might say that's not realistic, but when the spammers have spent 150m without any thing from their owners , it really isn't. We've made 3 good signings, and I'm overall happy with the business. Just feels like we missed out on a special signing.
The new part owner of Spam gave them £140m to clear their existing debt, so these transfers put them back where they were.

that's a fair point, but we've spent just over the 150m. Wolves have spent over 100m, Southampton 50m, Fulham 50m, Brentford 45m, gooners 120m, villa nearly 50m.

Owners money can’t be taken into account with FFP

Rice is going next year and they are gambling spending big this year as FFP will even out when he goes

Hopefully he gets a massive injury and doesn’t go anywhere for a couple year, they get a 1000 point deduction and relegated to the Isthmian where they belong
