I can't watch them. I've been away, and I'm only just catching up with MotD. Within the first couple of minutes I've seen them get away with an intended pass back, and then Salah deliberately controlling the ball with his arm... Neither were challenged in anyway.

VAR exists purely to give Liverpool the title. Fuck every last one of them.

What I love, is that a few games ago their fans were chanting "fuck VAR" when they didn't get awarded a penalty, which wasn't a penalty. Can't remember which game, but the fact they're so desperate to be victims they wanted to act like they've been hard-done-by with VAR made me laugh. They've absolutely been the main beneficiaries of VAR. Every single decision has gone their way. Officials probably scared of that gurning fucker Klopp.

There are many reasons why Klopp missing from last nights game was wrong. Shrewsbury are not a club that is blessed with millions so the fact they drew 'Pool in the FA cup was a chance to earn a few pounds. That seems to have been lost on the 'Pool when they decided to field their youngsters and rob Shrewsbury and their fans of seeing the 'stars' of Liverpool. It would have been nice if at least 4/6 of the 1st team & subs had of played. These fans may never get the opportunity to see them again and their players most likely will not. As a previous poster said they are 22 points ahead of everyone else therefore it would not have hurt them to field a few 1st teamers. Using the prem league break as an excuse has no justification, this was not a premiership game but a FA cup match. It sends out the wrong signal that 'Pool can do what they like and we all have to lump it. I suppose it guarantees that Sky & BBC will be waxing lyrical over the youngsters for the coming weeks.

It might be wrong, but they should never have been put in the position where they have to even make a decision. If there's a winter break there shouldn't be a game of football in the middle of it. It's absolutely ridiculous. Liverpool are getting the backlash, but it should also be the FA who should be answering questions.

The FA warned all PL clubs when they announced the winter break that FA Cup replays would have to be played on these dates.

Yes and no is the answer to your comments. The prem league called the winter break not the FA they are two separate entities. If anything the Prem League and the FA should have had these discussions in the event of replays however the fact remains 'Pool by fielding not one of their 1st team robbed Shrewsbury both financially and their fanbase. Would you be happy if tonight we fielded our kids against S'ampton because I for one would not regardless if we were 22 points ahead in the league or not. Fans pay good hard earned money to see the stars of each club. Sadly shrews were robbed of that last night. Even in the 1st game many of the 1st team were not there.

Yes, and it's ridiculous to have games in the middle of a winter break. And they've devalued their own competition again.

I know they're two different organisations, that doesn't mean they should be excused. I'm sure there were other solutions available to the FA. For instance there are no replays in the later rounds already.

I honestly can't decide how I'd feel about us playing the kids tonight. I think it's awful to ask a team to play during a break, so in theory I'd agree with the decision, but I also want us to win the cup so I'm torn. As for the fans who pay for tickets Liverpool reduced ticket prices to a max price of £15 and made everyone aware that it would be the U23's playing so they had a choice about going to the game or not. It wasn't like they charged full price and then played the kids.

As for Shrewsbury losing out financially and on an occasion, I agree with you, but as I've said it's not entirely on Liverpool. Choose a different date for the match and they would've had the occasion they wanted. Liverpool weren't in charge of that decision.

It's just a shame that Liverpool won as I'm sure Shrewsbury getting through to the next round would have been compensation.

The FA had to either stick to their guns or appeal to the EFL to move their fixture schedule around, which would in turn have affected 71 other clubs.

For once I'm on the FA's side this time. I would've wished that replays could be played the midweek immediately after the original fixture but I suppose today's all-ticket requirements make that impossible.

I don't buy that. Why not delay it until the midweek slot at the end of this month? Or play the replay on the day of the 5th round matches? There are always other solutions.

There are UEFA restrictions on planning to play games involving top flight sides during a CL/EL midweek which they would need special dispensation to get round, and planning replays on the day of the next round is just asking for trouble IMO.

It'll be interesting to see how Klopp approaches the next round away at Chelsea. Will he continue with the kids or will he do a complete u turn and go full strength.

Either way, with VAR clearly in their corner, I'm sure they'll get every decision until they have won everything and the media explodes in a gigantic jiz fest.

So ask for special dispensation if they need to.
Having a replay on the day of the next round is what they used to do when there were several replays. It's not ideal, but it's not a new solution.

Don't agree with that. It is the choice of Liverpool who to field in a cup competition. Why should there be any sentiments towards Shrewsbury? If it was anything then the biggest chance for Shrewsbury to knock out Liverpool and face a probably fully strength Chelsea team. But they were not able to outplay some talented youngsters with 0 senior experience.
And in addition they actually have fielded a few stars in the first leg.

Personally I think the headcoach should be there. He does not need a break. On the other hand though it makes sense for him not to do the tactics and the line up as the Academy coach probably know way much better how his team plays. So at least I can understand it.

I would've been interested to see if they were playing a PL team in the replay what type of team he would've fielded. I bet if they were playing us or Chelsea he would've been coaching the game. I think it's disrespectful to the lower league teams.

Pools starting line in the first game. They knew there was the potential for a replay during the winter break, they should have taken the first game more seriously and put out a stronger team

Liverpool
  • 13Adrián
  • 76Williams
  • 32Matip Substituted for Salah at 79'minutes
  • 6Lovren
  • 70Larouci
  • 68Chirivella
  • 3Fabinho
  • 48Jones
  • 67Elliott Substituted for Oxlade-Chamberlain at 71'minutes
  • 18Minamino Substituted for Firmino at 85'minutes
  • 27Origi

Maybe, but they also played the kids against Villa in the other cup. Different circumstances though.

The winter break is just for premier league teams, right? Lower leagues don't get one. Why should their schedule get screwed up?

Maybe if premier league teams didn't do daft summer tours in far flung parts of the world, they wouldn't be so "tired".

It would be justice if Liverpool then offered Shrewsbury half their next gate receipts.
