I'd take a guess that there is no-one Juande considers totally ideal at LB at the moment (Gilberto obviously excepted), and that we're seeing a little judicious experimentation.

DC-What about Gordon Smith?

sorry Legend I must have missed him - for me the top RBs of last 50 years include Perryman Danny Thomas Baker Kinnear and there are others but Hutton looks like he's got the lot to me - time will tell etc

pointless discussion, they will both play in the final. If anything its lees last chance to claim the place at LB. Since hutton didnt cover himself in glory last time out (although looked good on his debut) he doesnt have another chance before the final.

It willo either be Chimbo RB Lee LB or Hutton RB Chimbo LB

On a further note, I wouldnt mind Chimbo staying post summer, perfect sub since he can play anywhere in defence, although this will be less vital next season with 7 subs - but will allow us to have 3 strikers on the bench! I wouldnt put that past ramos.

Hi Pedro - que? Hutton looked pure quality v Derby - I had no fears at all from his side of the pitch-

Hutton doesn't need any chances trust me - stay fit and he's RB no danger - he already looks different class to chimbonda - ie he looks like a RB - PC for all his good points never looks a solid RB to me

Hi DC_Boy. Having just dissed statistics in the "Zokora" thread, let me cite some at you here!

So far this season, Alan Hutton has 11 yellow cards (7 in the SPL and 4 in the CL). Now, I obviously didn't watch all those games, but that bare statistic suggests to me that he may be a somewhat reckless tackler. And I have actually seen him destroy an opposition winger in a manner that would have made Graham Roberts proud.

Like you, I have high hopes for Hutton. But I suspect we're still waiting to see quite what kind of defender he is once he's put under pressure by a quality opponent.

Yeah in just two games Hutton looks like becoming one of our best ever right backs do me a favour no wonder our supporters get tarnished with being called deluded.

Can i have whatever your smokin, Chimbonda is a class act it's just a pity other people cannot seem to see it.

ok LAL - fair enough - I've only been supporting Spurs nearly 50 years - but if that's your reply fair enough - just don't expect me to debate with you ever again

Hi Yanno :) how much more quality do you want than Man U?

it's all about opinions but as I've said I'm soooooooooooooo impressed by Hutton - time will tell as ever but to me he looks a far better RB than Chimbonda

He was crap defensively in the second half and let them back into the game once he'd gone right-back. There was far too much space down our right hand side once Tainio went off and they exploited it.

Looks a better left-back to be honest..

Think Chimbo's days at numbered as a Spurs player anyways but also feels Lee's are even more so if Tainio gets picked at right back and Chimbo pushed to left back in his place...

I agree with what Stoof said earlier that Gunter looks good at left back - I think I've asked this before but I'm sure he's mainly left-footed and more of a left back than a right back?

Can anyone confirm this? Sure I saw that on reports when we signed him?

Chimbo's done a good job at left back but just don't like to see us playing a right back there and hope Gilberto or Gunter are able to fill the role with Chimbo battling Hutton for right back spot (although reckon Hutton will be first choice having spent so much).

yeah some of you guys have far too quickly jumped on hutton's band wagon. Jesus, the guy did alright against Manure and average at best against Derby.

Chimbo at one point in time was one of our most consistent players. He had a fantastic season last season, hence the Chelsea head hunting rumours. Give him a break! And at least watch Hutton a little more before worshipping him... Because I haven't seen anything special yet... or anything better than Chimbo..

Hutton will be first choice RB cos he's better than Chimbonda

it's why we paid so much money for him
