The Tide is certainly turning in North London. The French Foreign Legion has never been as bothered about us or spoken as much about us in years. We outplayed them for the majority of both our games this season and they know it. The only thing that kept them above us this season was a dodgy meal and a self-adoring world-class striker. They're running scared and their elation and relief on the final day is a testament to the strides Big Martin has made with this side.
The foundations are in place, the talent is growing every day and we're heading on an exciting European adventure next season. After a summer of recharging batteries and refreshing our zeal, it'll be time to dust off the passports. We were the first club to lift the UEFA Cup in 1971 and 35 years later we will return to the competition stronger than ever.
Gone are the years of dreaming. Everyone on the board, coaching and playing staff is finally pulling in the same direction and the club is beginning to deliver on its promise to give us our Tottenham Hotspur back. I can feel the hairs rising on my arms as the European glow on the horizon offers the chance to witness a new chapter in Tottenham history.
We have had to suffer enough false dawns, bogus messiahs and treacherous turncoats in such a short space of time that its about time we enjoyed the kind od golden age our predecessors have waxed lyrical about. There's a big man at the helm with even bigger talent and the ability to inspire all those around him. He was brought to Spurs with far less fanfare than his higher profile colleagues, but has eclipsed them with ease as their disloyalty came to the fore.
It was somewhat fitting that in 2004, when Bill Nicholson, the greatest manager in Tottenham Hotspur's long and proud history, passed away, the man who could one day to be his heir emerged from within his beloved club.
The times are changing, the revolution is almost complete and a dozing old club is waking up with a new saviour leading it to the Promised Land. Our cockeral is going to be crowing loudly across the continent next season. I hope you will join me for the adventure. This has been my Ode to Jol.
