Given the cost of both (assuming the mooted release clause is true), I would much rather spend £35m on Olise than the likely £60m it'd take to sign Maddison.

He's a really good player but I'm not sure where he fits into our current preferred formations, whereas Olise could play off the right and is a tremendous talent too.

I believe he's signed a new deal removing the clause. Makes sense as I think someone would have activated it by now otherwise.

This feels more like an internet fan driven rumour than an actual one at this point. As I posted earlier, Leicester have done zero business thus far. Maybe they need to move some out before buying and are waiting for a credible Tielemans bid to do that? But at the moment it doesn't seem like much is happening there.

Why? Paqueta flopped in serie a, he is decent but looks good in France… I would much rather have a prime English player who is coming off the back of their best season
I'm with you. Paqueta is a bit flashier, but in truth, Maddison has scored and assisted more in the Prem, and is barely older

I think everyone’s getting a bit carried away based on a throwaway line from Ali Z saying he heard a couple of weeks ago we had some interest. Doesn’t mean we are anywhere near bidding. We haven’t heard anything like that.

Yup, just people want the flashy toy from abroad. Maddisons numbers were incredible last season, he outscored and out assisted Saka

Didn’t know Maddison got 20 G/A in all comps last season, would be a great signing

3 consecutive years of losses, worst EBITDA in the league, worst wages to turnover ratio in the league at 105%!, their owner puts in lots of money each year via shirt sponsor (£16m) and own cash (£160m over the last 5 years). Part of their model is selling players to stay sustainable. So I don't really agree with that.

And yet the Leicester model is great and more clubs should use it ?

I think people will jump on any ‘gossip’ at present - it’s just that time of year (and I was the one posting Ali Z’s comments on Maddison in this forum so I’m just as bad as anyone else?).

Paqueta over Maddison for me, will be cheaper as well
Its true that Maddison would likely cost almost twice as much as Paqueta. I just don't see us getting Maddison and still having money for a quality CD for example. If we went for Paqueta we would certainly have some money left over. I do wonder how much of our further moves are dictated by Spence. Maybe if we get Spence we would be more willing to get a non HG AM for example, but if we have to go for someone like Songo or Molina then we may have to go for a HG AM.

Nothing wrong with either bringing the info over or getting excited. It’s what the forums are for. I just don’t think we are gonna see any developments on this any time soon.

I guess we'll never know if the hatred he displayed towards us as a club at the age of 16 (?) is still there inside him almost ten years later unless he comes out and says so.

But it does make me think if he hates us THAT much would he have Spurs shirts, among many other admittedly, hanging on his wall as shown on a video he posted on tik tok earlier in the year?

Now I appreciate it's the person as to why he's got them up rather than the club, but if the hatred was so strong would he have them?

Or am I making a completely non-point?

Wouldn't be the first 16 year old to be a twat. I was one. I turned out okay in the end  There is a difference between a kid chatting shit and an adult. You give slack to one and other should know better.

Agree, so far we had Ali Z say he heard his name mentioned the other week, Hotspur88 said he heard his name a few weeks ago but nothing since and that Wolf guy on twitter (who may or not be okay) said we had an enquiry nocked back a few weeks back. To me it sounds like he was on our list but we potentially moved on probably because he's ether too expensive or they don't want to sell. I certainly feel we are getting a little carried away here. But i could be wrong.

The Mirror saying the Eriksen deal is around £200k per week with a £10m signing on bonus. Over 3 years that works out at a £41m outlay, probably north of £50m when you include agents fees and potential loyalty bonuses each summer.

Does make you wonder if the club looks at that and thinks that's probably 60% of what the total package for Maddison would cost and the latter is much younger and HG. Would be a smarter purchase IF the extra funds were there. They'd certainly be secured against a more vaulable asset.
