I think Townsend will go and Schneiderlin will come in during the final hours. I think Dawson is gone and Chiriches will go if we bring Fazio in.

Sandro will go, Paulinho will stay. If a suitable offer came our way I'd sell Paulinho but I don't think that will happen, same for Lennon.

I think we might bring in one more attacking player if a good last minute deal appears otherwise that will be it.

This we need to keep the Homegrown over 21s for the 25 man squad as we need 8 of them and Dawson already going might leave us short.

I think Townsend move will happen, only if Scheniderlin comes the other way; If Schneiderlin doesnt move, I wont be surprised by a Alex Song loan attempt & Townsend to stay;

Really not too bothered. Only one I'd want as things stand is a centre back, I'd rather we culled a lot of deadwood from the squad.

Dawson
Ekotto
Naughton
One of Sandro/Dembele/Paulinho
Lennon or Townsend

We should probably have 4-5 leaving who wouldn't really impact on the strength of the squad. Any incoming players would then mean possibly others going as well.

I expect Scheniderlin to be linked with us until the the closing hours of the window and Ben or some other ITK person to be up a tree. I expect us to panic and scrape out every bottom of the barrel we can find to see what player we can get on loan or who we can get at the cheapest price if we can't get Scheniderlin. We'll probably end with a Dembele mark2 which is a hella of lot worse than a Jenas mark2.

We're top of the league and you still bring this negativity? Get out! :D

Personally I think we should make a bid for Gerrard, he won't get many games but every pundit says he deserves to win a PL title so I'm sure Liverpool won't stand in the way of him getting that opportunity with us.

Hopefully...

Dawson £4m
BAE £0
Townsend p/ex
Lennon £6m
Sandro £12m

£22m+12.5m (Defoe+Livermore-Vorm) approx £35m

Fazio £8m
Schneiderlin £6m and Townsend. If we can't make this happen then go for Alex Song, keep Townsend and forget about Bernard.
Welbeck/J-Rod £10-15m
Bernard loan or another left field option. Ricky Alvarez?

approx £27m

A bit Football Manager style I know but Poch wants MS and that'll mean swapping Townsend. So he'll need to be replaced.

Lennon isn't suited to this system so I'd be looking to shift him. If successful bring in Bernard or another skilful squad player.

Not convinced on Kaboul at all but he's just about acceptable as 5th choice behind Vlad, Verts, Fazio & Dier. It's a position i'd look further at in January or next summer when there's probably more RCBs available.

Whatever happens, someone will start a thread about what a disaster the transfer window has been and how we should have signed players x, y and z.

I'm not sure what my wishes or expectations are, but I know what would probably make sense for a variety of reasons (including that players sale value, their fitting into our current system, and how likely that player is to get chances).

Our squad is currently:

GK: Lloris Vorm Friedel
RB: Walker Naughton
CB: Kaboul, Vertonghen, Dier, Chiriches, Dawson
LB: Rose, Davies, Ekotto
CM: Capoue, Bentaleb, Demebele, Holtby, Paulinho, Sandro
AM: Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli, Lennon, Townsend
CF: Adebayor, Soldado, Kane

Sandro and Paulinho, one of whom I like and the other of whom I do not, are clearly both surplus. We play two players in CM. We don't need 6 or even 5. I expect both Brazilians to leave, and if we get a new CM (either Song or Schneiderlin) then probably one of Holtby or Dembele. My feeling is that we'll be left with Capoue, Bentaleb, Dembele and Holtby, with versatile players from other positions being the '5th' CM (Dier, Vertonghen, Fazio if he comes in).

In defence, I think Dawson and Chiriches will leave, with Fazio coming in, leaving us with Kaboul, Vertonghen, Fazio and Dier as our centre back options, with versatile players from other positions making up the '5th' CB (Walker, Davies, Capoue). Three experienced centre backs in their prime, all of whom can play a bit, and a young (but seemingly very accomplished already) centre back who won't lack for game time due to other competitions and his versatility.

At full back, sadden me though it does, it's time for Ekotto to leave. He has no future here anymore. Given Diers ability to play at RB very well if need be, Walker and Naughton as our right backs is fine now (and Dier may even end up establishing himself there if he keeps this up).

Up front and at AM is the only area we look a little thin. I would not sell anybody quite frankly. We have the three AM's who staretd v QPR, all of them new last season, and we have Townsend and Lennon who offer a slightly different approach. We have two experienced international striekrs and one very promising one. I could live with this for the season, but I'd rather see one more come in, someone who could play in both positions (though primarily an AM and an emergency option for up front). Jay Rodriguez and Loic Remy seem the best bets, and I'd rather for for the former for two reasons, 1) More of an AM than Remy; 2) Has worked with Pochettino before and will likely be more comfortable in Pochettino's system. In view of his injury, he'd probably be happier than Remy would to wait for his opportunity too, as I'm reluctunt to see the Lamela-Eriksen-Chadli team broken up just yet. This would leave us with Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli and Adebayor as the starters, Soldado as a pure CF back up, Lennon and Townsend as pure AM back up, Kane as CF back up who could also come into AM and Rodriquez as AM back up who could also come into the CF position.

In summary, I'd see Ekotto, Dawson, Chiriches, Paulinho and Sandro leave, with Fazio and Rodriguez coming in. It would leave us with two good players for every position (3 in goal), with plenty of those being versatile and plenty of those being young and on an upward curve. In those 23 plays we'd have Walker, Naughton, Rose, Davies, Bentaleb, Kane, Rodriguez Lennon and Townsend who would fill our HG quota, and the remaining two squad players could quite happily go to whoever the two most promising young players still at the club are (or, if we fail to sell, say, Chiriches and Paulinho).
