Never seen him before, so all I’ve got his his YouTube clips (looks powerful but skilful and very aware, never a bad combination) and his stats (underwhelming).

Seems a very complete forward skill set wise so if he’s who’s been identified as our best fit, then I’m all for it.

He's been captain for majority of the games for them too.

That is impressive, and he did hit a great return in Ligue 2, so I can speculate with a little confidence that his 12 in 26 last season is actually quite good given that Metz were newly promoted relegation battlers. I’m just a little scared that at 25, most of his career so far has been poor returns in Ligue 2, then one superb return in Ligue 2 which massively inflated his overall record, then an ok season last season in Ligue 1. I’d feel a bit more confident if I’d seen a few full games of his I guess, because the YouTube highlights make him look like he’ll be a real handful for defenders.

The above is all impressive - but the key fact is he is probably the cheaper option so my 50p is on him as our next striker!

Yeah according to the AG youtube update his price makes the most sense. Personally I think Watkins makes the most sense due to his ability to play in the 3 plus HG/retaining value but I can see Diallo being the one mostly because it seems like the easiest deal to do. He does look like defenders will know they've been in a match with him which is good. I'm not necessarily concerned with goal output from whoever we sign but moreso can our players play off of them because we have goals in Dele, Son if we get the right person for them to play off of when Kane isn't available. I get the impression that's what Jose values also.

Inclined to agree. Drogba, as the main striker in Jose’s first two premiership title wins, scored 10 and 12 goals respectively, even though Chelsea had decent scoring seasons (72 each time). If Jose’s thought is that the best way to keep scoring with Kane our is to ensure Son, Dele, Lucas fill the void then this type of player may well facilitate that, whereas someone whose main strength is goals but hasn’t got as much of an all round game may well struggle coming in from the cold. Additionally, Habib could well be a strong option off the bench who occupies defenders.

I also like that he seems very two footed (and fleet footed).

This is all supposition on my part, as I say I’ve not seen the guy play and would welcome input from someone who has (BC would be handy here) but given what we’ve heard about Jose’s specific requirements in a striker, this may well be what backing the manager looks like.

Yeah I agree completely, I've also never seen him play and up until you mentioned ligue 2 thought he played in Germany, So that's the extent of my knowledge on him. I'm just looking at clips and thinking about what were we lacking when Kane was out, it wasn't people who could put the ball in the net but people who we could get the ball to and have it actually stick up there.

Only watching YouTube compilations, of course, but looks similar to Kanoute in many respects. Happy to play with his back to goal and bringing others into the game, clearly very talented and can finish (so many of his goals were him almost passing the ball into the net - and growing up I was always told that was the sign off a genuinely class striker), but also seems to have the potential to be either a world beater or immensely frustrating. Often in the same passage of play. I don’t think things would be boring with him around, that’s for sure.

Never heard of him. Be typical of our management to base our striker search on cheapest option we can find. And sums up why we have had more misses than success in the transfer market recently

He actually looks like a real player! Very Adebayor/young Drogba! Young with decent stats! Would probably be a good signing.

Problem is how many players have we signed from france and how many have worked out, not say he couldnt come in and be a success but would need time to adjust and settle as well as being limited to game time. Id prefer we brought in somebody with more experience personally. Would love to be proved wrong and would be nice if we found a gem for a change

Yeah style really really reminds me of Adebayor. Would prefer Watkins but this guy has almost exactly the same goals, aerial duel wins, assists p90 as Osimhen who went for 70m this window.

Could definitely be a smart signing.

I don't think arguments like this have any relevance really. You could just as easily say 'how many players has Mourinho signed from France and how did they work out?' The answer would be - Quite a lot and rather well.

You can't go on past experiences to dictate how a potential new signing would pan out. Look at players like Drogba, Kane, Lloris, that midfielder at Newcastle etc etc etc...all ended up being great signings very quickly! (well, Lloris took a few months because we insisted on playing Friedel until mid-October).

N'jie & N'Koudou shouldn't be the stick we hit another potential signing with, not every player in France is a disaster.
