Have you heard the Pussycat Dolls song for Disco Benny??

"Don't cha wish your Full back was
B........ A........ E........."

Cracked me up the first time I heard it!

Yea, i had that one, but could not work out the Gomes one for my life. Both top draw chants.

best keeper we have had in a very long time. Find it amazing there are still some of us who don't rate him.

Although seeing Schwarzer and Kirkland today reminded me they deserve to be considered in that 'second tier'. Wonderful performances. Especially from the Aussie.

Schwarzer is vastly underrated and was a steal for Fulham (free transfer). He had the highest save percentage last season (80.23%) among all the regular keepers, even higher than Cech (78.57%), van der Sar (77.17%) and Reina (75.45%). Gomes had a 74.84% save rate last season.

Know he's a confidence player but that seems to be growing by the day and when he's on the kind of form that he showed yesterday I'm not sure there's anyone better.

He's got his critics but when you look around at the other No 1s out there I can't see any realistic improvements. Hope Harry sets his transfer radar elsewhere in January.
I wonder what people would have said if Bent had scored

I thought he was MOM yesterday, not a good thing for the team, but good for he's confidence - I just hope he does not have to many opportunities to play as well as he did yesterday

Robbo was a good keeper, I will always have fond memories of him (the first time i've seen a keeper score live!) but once he was in that downward spiral of confidence sapping mistakes I knew he was on his wayout of Spurs. Gomes was always gonna get better and really didn't deserve a lot of the bad press he was/still is getting.

Best since big Eric for me. I fuckin loved big Eric tho, so it'll be a tough one for him to shift him off the top of my own mental GK league table.

I was chatting to my uncle, a gooner, today as the Birmingham thunderbolt goal went in and said 'if any goalkeeper in the premiership would have saved that, it would be Gomes'. At first he laughed thinking i was being sarcastic, but when I said I was serious he couldn't believe it and went on to say he was a clown and completely useless. When I asked him if he honestly prefers Almunia to Gomes he said a resounding 'yes'.

In a way I'm glad we are the only one's who know!

I love Gomes and its been great seeing his confidence grow. He's been getting a lot of love from the crowd and he is making some great saves!

Interesting stats. It's worth noting that Schwarzer was shitcrap in his last season at Boro. A total anomoly and surely down to Borat's wonderful man management skills but true. Hence why he was let go. Boro's loss.

He really was. It was difficult to tell whether he'd "gone" or whether he just couldn't be arsed - it now looks like the latter.

Had exactly the same conversation with my fellow pundits on the radio. They thought I'd lost it. Got a podcast somewhere. I told them to watch the full games and not just highlights with a clear mind. This was just before Pompey. Last week's show was good as they had to admit he's been in good form.

Although I agree the missionary work might be detrimental if others find out what a star he really is. I just can't believe after Chelsea and United last season and Pompey and Stoke this that he's not being heralded by non-Spurs fans. Bizarre.

It is quite bizarre, but he was given a label at the start of last season after a few hiccups whilst playing with an injury and that label has stuck.

The thing is when I was chatting to him he was genuinely flummoxed that I thought he was a great goalkeeper and thought I was part of the small minority of Spurs fans who thought that.

I wonder if any of us are mates with Pompey or Sunderland fans to see how they rate him? Presumably they were frustrated at least.
