I have always loved Gomes and thought he was one of the best shot-stoppers in the EPL. He's gone from strength-to-strength since Tony Parks has come on board. Flawless catching lately.

And he's a smashing fella to boot. We were very lucky to get him. A very close 2nd best ever signing (behind Modric) for Comoli IMO.

I'd have Berbatov up there too.

Yeah really nice fella, and has struck up a rapport with the fans similar to Robbo . His celebration after the penalty save was brilliant and showed a man who has been constantly under fire once more stick 2 metaphoric footballing fingers up at the moronic media who are intent on knocking him down.

He seems a likeable, humble and dignified bloke, he's also the finest gk I've ever seen at Spurs.

Shirley Berbs was BMJ's signing. Didn't Berbs say so himself, think JOL had watched him for ages and was always his no1 choice

Pretty sure I read somewhere that Commoli was behind it. Could be wrong though.

Edit - Here it is. About half way down.

There were few deals that went more right for Tottenham than the signing of Dimitar Berbatov, a terrific coup for Comolli, so it was ironic that the machinations surrounding the Bulgarian’s summer move to Manchester United proved so instrumental in the team’s crash in form and the subsequent dismissals.
“I’d done the deal with Leverkusen,” Comolli says of the evening he signed Berbatov. “I met with Berba and his agent in the hotel and I had given Berba my pen to sign the contract. Just as he was putting the pen to paper, the phone rings. The agent excused himself and went out. Two minutes later he calls Berba out. For 20 minutes they were gone. I was thinking ‘this is going all wrong’. They came back in and signed. After it was done the agent told me it was Manchester United – they had tried to stop the deal.”

Thought I heard Berbs say that he could have gone to Man U from Germany but went to Tottenham because JOL had been tracking him for ages and really rated him

Presumably Given. Struggling for the other...

Reina's been at the level for longer, so I have him 2nd. Gomes' consistency has recently seen him emerge from the likes of Friedel and VDS, imo.

No Peter Cech?
Reina, Given & Cech are better and as when Van de Sar went to Utd they started winning titles and haven't stopped yet and Brad Freidl is doing the business for Villa I'm not so sure they are not still ahead.

Nah, Cech's lost form majorly in the past season. I still rate him but if you're looking at who is the safer pair of hands now - Gomes.

Although seeing Schwarzer and Kirkland today reminded me they deserve to be considered in that 'second tier'. Wonderful performances. Especially from the Aussie.

When you look around the PL there are not many, if any better keepers Than Gomes at this time. IMHO.

I honestly think he is the best keeper in the league. Its a shame the media are never going to get off his back. We as the fans have to make sure this doesnt affect his game. We need to let him know we love him!!
Everybody: " We love you Gomes, we do. We love you Gomes, we do. We love you Gomes, we do. Oh Gomes we love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Gomes is a special keeper, a lot of my mates were slating me for the fact I would never agree with them that he was a complete clown. I kept using the example of Eric the Viking and his first season, it really wasn't looking good for him after a few mistakes (one against Forest springs to mind) but he turned it round and was a rock.

I hope Gomes is around for a very long time.

This one?

"I love you Gomes
You are the love of my life
I love you Gomes
I'd let you shag my wife
I love you Gomes
I wish I was Brazilian too!"
