Fuck me.

Where have I or anyone excused the performances?

I'm done with this thread and possibly this forum for a while. Sick of people not being able to read what I'm saying or taking it out of context. Especially in this thread.

Good fucking luck
Goodnight sweet prince

But it's not so on the players either. You said it yourself, same players did well in the system last season
Where the fuck did I say it's all on the players?

It's on them both. I've been saying the same for weeks, actually I've been saying it for about 4 years. As have others.

Can someone, without mentioning that our defensive players aren’t good enough, point to any evidence of good tangible coaching in regards attacking and being in possession of the ball?

Always defended him and wanted him properly backed because of his pedigree and was prepared to be patient.

But with the tools he currently has at his disposal, it's just nowhere near good enough.

If you don't have the exact personnel for a specific system, adapt until you do get them.

This is death by a thousand cuts and we're as dull as dishwater.

People go on about the ConteBall patterns - the patterns entirely assume that the opposition get baited out, overcommit, and you then work it over the halfway line and can attack space against a destabilised attack. But teams have wised up to what we want to do, adjusted, and most weeks it's not happening.

If we can't get them into the trap, and/or the game is tight, and we have to break teams down with possession in their half, we have literally no idea.

The patterns aren't too rigid in this scenario, they're simply non-existent!

Generally been pro-Conte but I actively hope he leaves in the summer now.

Life's too short to watch us keep trying the same shit week after week and then not changing a thing when it clearly doesn't work.

I don't think we'll ever back him enough for him to succeed in such a competitive PL and even if we were able to, I'm not even sure it would be worth the expenditure given he's so flaky around signing contracts and committing to anything.

Obviously not really Conte's fault - doesn't make sense to bring him in if you're not going to go massive in the market - but at this point I'd genuinely rather we make a clean break than even try to offer him a big contract and sign a bunch of "Conte players".

Not that he'd agree anyway - I think his heart is already back in Italy and he wants to go home.

So you aren't done. Bit melodramatic
If people are responding to me I'm going to respond back.

I said maybe I'd be done with the forum for a bit but when people are going to continue antagonising and also taking my posts totally out of context im going to defend myself.

The fit being a point of debate is fine, the stubbornness fine, but the quality of the manager isn’t up for debate.
Nah, it really is up for debate at this point. In 2023 his football philosophy and approach is actually hurting us, negatively impacting the players. We have been solved by 25 different sides now, we have no actual identity or pattern of play, and we look clueless against a 3 man midfield.

Simply put what Conte has done in the past doesn’t excuse this. The quality of Andres Iniesta isn’t up for debate either but there’s a reason he’s playing in bloody Japan. It’s time to take Conte out of the elite manager conversation. No elite manager, given £150m to spend over 3 windows, would be this poor.

Mourinho was great when he used that tactic where LB stays back and Aurier goes forward all the time. Then scouting reports got out, Aurier was shut down and we were shit.

Conte was great when Romero and Kulusevski were able to progress the ball on the right side (helps that teams had to double Son but they were also leaving Royal wide open). Scouting reports got out and we are shit.

Some players are clearly bad and some regressed but every player we bought this season is playing way worse than last year. When Bissouma gets a stupid yellow card it's not Conte's fault or when Perišić fails to pass to wide open Son, or when Lenglet makes same mistakes he is known for, but none of them are helped by poor tactics and lack of in-game adjustments.

Also rotation has been poor this whole season, too many players are rarely rested and won't have energy for later part of the season. Not helped by silly World Cup and lack of depth in some areas but still could do better there.

Even if Conte got 10 perfect players for his system he would leave in Summer 2024, doubt he takes another job outside Italy any time soon. Didn't have 2xg game since October, simply not good enough. His teams need good defenders to have good attack.

There is nothing inherently wrong with this as we all know he’d probably like to go back to Italy at some point. But we’re been in a horrible vein of form post WC, just lost in a huge game you just don’t need to say this. It’s so fucking unecessary

Same shitty cycle about to repeat itself. Wonder what dross of a manager we will end up with next.

Bout time we have someone the time to build a full team and have a run with it. Whatever we do we need a defence and goal keeper so we don't concede the only chance we face most weeks.

At least he’s not talking about his future though
