I don't care about overthinking the reasons, quite simply, hearing Eric talk like that reminded me of Schteeve and made me laugh.
There's nothing wrong with a simple, face value laugh sometimes.

I absolutely despise these takes. it's not even about the level of competition, it doesn't matter one bit if he is able to be effective at Bayern. the only thing relevant is whether he was able to be perform for Spurs, which he has shown for a considerable amount of time that he isn't. not if the club wants to take a step forward at least. if it works out for him at Bayern, excellent! it's a win-win for both sides. he has been a good servant to the club for a good time and has behaved like a top professional throughout all the fuss. wish him all the best.

that said, this is an highlight pack. you see the good, you disregard the bad. but in possession, look at the amount of time and space he is granted. teams are just sitting deep and narrow against Bayern, zoning out dangerous areas and not impeding forward progressions from the center back. there are some decent defensive challenges in this highlight pack (well, it's arguable whether the attacking moves are good enough or not, most were pretty basic 1v1 attempts) but his on ball plays just do not translate to the way Spurs are defended. what exactly are we missing here?

I think you need to look more at yourself and you reading into something that's not there. It's just a highlight reel of his 1st full game for BM.
We get that you don't rate him, just put the thread on ignore if it bothers you that much.

the "German League" thing coming from a Tottenham is a very clear implicit message, I'm choosing not to ignore it and address it.

and you certainly didn't read my post. either that or you just disregarded a significant part. likewise, if my comment bothered you, you can choose to ignore it.

Can't remember seeing him ping it about with his left foot like that :D
It's inversed (right is left and left is right). Whoever made the clip probably did so for whatever reason (copywright?). But he played as the left CB, so treat every pass with left as him using his right foot and vice versa. Same for all the players.

One of his long balls was controlled by Sane's right foot (in the clip), and we all know Sane uses his right foot to stand, walk and sprint only.

Dier - High quality in the bundesliga and poor in the prem. Doesn’t mean the league is poor, just that its played at a different tempo.

We have someone like VDV who is brilliant in both leagues

Erik will also find it a completely different proposition if he’s played in the CL. Be interesting to see how he does then.

Ah shit, I'm an idiot, should have realised! There was me thinking he must have been working extra hard to make an impression :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, if I'd paid more attention the Sane moment would have been a good giveaway for sure 😬

Jesus Christ, man. You really don't like Dier, do you? Made an effort to post about it the second he didn't do a thing perfectly in his first game, and now you are dismissing his highlights from a highlight video of his first start because it only shows you... highlights?

You know, you could try to be happy for a guy who has been nothing but loyal to our club?
