The best Premiership players are from Africa, so I am not sure what you are saying.

In Africa, they play more with passion and they are little on the tactics.

Teams have huge individual talents, they are not very strong tactically but names like Essien, Drogba, Eto'o, Yaya Tourey, Kader Keita, Montari, Geremi, Alex Song and Reg Song...etc..................................................etc. Those are all world class players.

The two in bold are probably the only world class players in that list. You could argue that Yaya Toure is but, he really has set the world alight in a big competition and Barca have been pretty dire this season. Eto'o before his injuries was world class but, it remoans to be seen if he will be the same player he once was. The rest are all average players and how the hell after the mistake he made in the final say rigobert song is world class I have no idea.(The highest level he played at was with Liverpool for 2 seasons player 33 times, not exactly the career of a world class player.)

Not sure which standard of football was higher, womens football or African Football. I think the womens is technically superior, while the Africans can kick the ball harder and run faster.

It was like watching retards at times during this ACN tourny.

there goes the EPL down the drains then !!!

Spursking will be livid. His favourite black players couldn't even win in Africa.

Where is Spursking when you need his unrivalled knowledge and insight?

Got to say, although those who watch Spanish footy regularly have warned about his David James+ mentalist tendencies, Kameni is some shot-stopper. Cameroon would have been thrashed out of sight but for him. Al-Hadari's no slouch either.

Yea Al-Hadari was great, it could well have been 3-1 to the Ivory Coast by the time Egypt got their 2nd in the semi & Kameni really impressed me today, but you have to wonder what he'd be like coming for a corner on a wet and windy night in Bolton.

I can't remember who said you should never buy players based on their performances in international tournaments. Obviously there are going to be exceptions (Ossie), but it's not a bad rule of thumb.

The attacking side of the tournament was very good, some of the goals were class, especially the long range shooting. Eurosport ran a best goal of the tournament competition, showing 10 absolute belters that if they were scored in the Premiership, the commentators would still be slabbering on about them.

But the flip side to that was the defending, I've seen better on a Sunday league pitch. Shocking. The final was a poor game but you often get that in an important game like that.

1-0 to Egypt at the moment after a colossal cock-up by Rigobert Song. Timmy Atouba needs to get his team back in it! Eto'o been fairly quiet as has Modest & Barmy.

Surprised SpursKing hasn't started a thread on this .

I'm not, I bet he doesn't have a single Egyptian player on his site. He probably spent the morning crying into his cornflakes.

The fact is the slightly more cultured and tactically more astute team won over all the more physical teams. Can't say I am really shocked at all. Give me a team that can pass it a bit and keeps some structure than a team full of athletes but completely clueless.

That I agree with. But some of the passes were fucking hilarious.

Egypt proved to be the undisputed champion of Africa!

-12 games unbeaten in row thru two consequetive continental tourneys

-5 players in Africa all stars starting line-up and all playing in the domestic league who are:
Hadary GK
Gomaa CB
Hosni DM
Abo trika AM
Zaki CF

-2 players on the substitute bench who are:
Ahmed Fathy RB
Hany Said SW

-Hosni " Egypt's anchorman" named "Player of ACN 2008"

-3 players have achieved 2nd best goalscorer netting the ball 4 times, just one goal behind the top goalscorer Eto'o ( which reflects the great teamwork play and superb attacking football of the team):
Zaki CF
Hosni DM
Abo treka AM

-4 defenders in the Africa all stars squad:
Hadary GK
Gomaa CB
Hany Said SW
Fathy RB

I'm very proud of my country :)

Spot on. Although Keida Kater impressed me hugely and has done everytime I've seen him. But even he couldn't be billed in the truly highest level.

Absolutely agree with that Kameni comment too. He dives like Superman. I thought that type of keeper was long since gone.

The attacking side of the tournament was very good, some of the goals were class, especially the long range shooting. And rounds off 3 spot on posts. The Manucho goals especially were rippers. You could have 8 keepers and 40 defenders for those and they would still have gone in.
