1-0 to Egypt at the moment after a colossal cock-up by Rigobert Song. Timmy Atouba needs to get his team back in it! Eto'o been fairly quiet as has Modest & Barmy.

Surprised SpursKing hasn't started a thread on this .

You're welcome.

Sk must be doing his nut watching Egypt lifting the trophy, even though unlike his heroes Ivory Coast, they have truly shown that for the ACN at least, it really is all about "teambuilding" as he would say.

This was the third leg of a really shit boring sunday's footie. It's strange how african footballers can be so individually good but when you put them together they seem to become less than the sum of their parts. Except Egypt obviously, of which the reverse is true.

I think you might be thinking of Ben Saha, Israeli kid. Think he's on loan to a lower league english side.

Sahar's on loan at QPR, isn't he? Pretty sure I remember him going there, but haven't heard much about him since.

Good on Egypt.

How come they never qualify for the world cup?

:-|

World Cup doesn't like us lol

Last time we had Cameroon and Ivory Coast in our group :bang: how can we qualify, also we had a retard coach (Marco Tardelli of Italy).

The quals seeding system is a joke and thats why Togo and other poor teams go to World cup while Camerron and Egypt didn't.

The system puts teams which made it to last World Cup first in the gorup and only one team quaklifies. When we go play Ivory Coast away we lost to them Drogba scored twice

Imagine Egypt, Cameroon and Ivory Coast in one group for World cup, in the qualifies berfore this one we had all North African teams with us and North Africans all play European style and we don't play very well against them, so we couldn't make it in 2002.

In 1998, We qualified from the group and were waiting to play Cameroon and the winner from away and home would go to USA, but FIFA decided to replay Egypt-Zimbabwe match which we won 2-1 in Egypt because the Zimbabwe coach was hit by a solid object from the crowd, it was crazy act from one of the supporters and Fifa replayed the game in France and ended in 0-0 draw, so Zimbabwe went against Cameroon instead and lost 3-0 then cameroon which were alot weaker than Egypt qualified and lost 6-0 to Russia and other humiliating results.

In the same year, Egypt won the African Cup in 1998.

So, it appears that World cup just hates Egypt.
sorry about the many typos, I am on a hurry going to celebrate ACN win!!:hello:

Last time we were in World Cup was in 1990, we drew with Holland 1-1 and they had the best Dutch team ever with Guillet, Van Basten Rijkaard and Ronald Koeman.

Then we held Ireland to goalless draw and lost 0-1 to England, a goal by Mark Wright if I remember well. In the same world cup, Cameroon made it to quarter finals and lost to England after an extra time,.

Zidan is a very talented striker for Egypt, incredible dribbler and top class finisher.

He plays for Hambruger SV now and was a Werder Bremen player last year, he later joined Mainz cuz they didn't play him often at Bremen and scored 13 goals out of 15 games in just half of season!

Look at his two goals aganist Cameroon in the African nations opener:

The first goal is classy counter attacking move and the 2nd is a stunning shot, look at his technique in holding tbhe ball on his chest, his first touch and finish.

Lock at this for some jaw dropping dribbles, Ronaldo style:

Determination made the winner:

Not sure which standard of football was higher, womens football or African Football. I think the womens is technically superior, while the Africans can kick the ball harder and run faster.

It was like watching retards at times during this ACN tourny.

The best Premiership players are from Africa, so I am not sure what you are saying.

In Africa, they play more with passion and they are little on the tactics.

Teams have huge individual talents, they are not very strong tactically but names like Essien, Drogba, Eto'o, Yaya Tourey, Kader Keita, Montari, Geremi, Alex Song and Reg Song...etc..................................................etc. Those are all world class players.

Cheers mate. Interesting stuff!

That was a good team we had in 1990. The last genuinely good team we've had imo.

Congrats on the ACN.

As teams, though, Egypt and to a lesser extent Tunisia excepted, they're hopeless at times. There does seem to be an over-emphasis on pace and strength, and if that doesn't work out the wheels come off. Egypt close down Eto'o and it's:

'Duh, whadda we do now?'

'Duh, dunno, dude.'

It made for some entertaining footy—sometimes, there were some truly dire games, too—but really, much of it was Championship level. In fact, that's probably doing the Championship a disservice. You really have to wonder how a team as packed with talent as the IC can look so duff.

Well done Egypt.

The best Premiership players are from Africa, so I am not sure what you are saying.

The best player in the premiership is from Portugal. The next best player is from Bulgaria. Neither of these countries are in Africa.

You have to admit the standard of football played throughout the tournament was shocking. Exciting to watch maybe, but the quality was never there, even though many of the players do show their true quality in the EPL every week.
