Worth also noting that that Chandler guy is rated tier 3 by them and he also said our other main striker target if Kane leaves is Marcos Leonardo. He might be right but tbh I’d be taking his info with a big big pinch of salt even tho ITK Hub has had some good info at times this window. What our own ITKs have said is we like Fati and we won’t be getting him and Eze, plus Fati will probably be half the price. I can 100% see Levy going for a player like Fati who would probably cost around £40 mil over someone like Eze, even if he’s CAA, who would cost £80/90+ most likely.

I can't see Palace demanding that high of a fee for him, surely? 60m at most IMO, which still be too high for ol' Levy

I would stay away from PL players, just because the prices are crazy. I love Paqueta, rate Caicedo, Rice and Eze, but these players feel so overpriced to the point where one year of Kane and he leaving for free seems like a better option.

Why wouldn’t they ask for that much? He’s one of their key players now and he’s HG. Think of the crazy amounts they wanted for Zaha. And that was a couple of years ago. The market has only gone up since then. With Rice going for £100 mil why wouldn’t CP be asking for mega money as well.

I love Eze as a player and really wanted us to sign him when he was at QPR. With our current squad however, I just don't think he would be a good use of our funds unless we miraculously have a bottomless pit. CB, CF, WF and DM are all higher priority and I'd say cover for GK and LB are actually more pressing issues as well. If we did somehow sign him though, I would be delighted.

I guess there’s also the question of if he would actually want to be brought in to primarily play LW. AMC very much seems to be his natural position. If you’re spending big bucks surely it would make more sense to go for a natural LWF if that’s what you’re looking for. Ether way CP have a history of valuing their players extremely high and what with Zaha leaving, Olise being injured (plus supposedly having a low release clause) and Franca already picking up an injury im sure they will be looking to rely heavily on Eze. Looking at the current market for HG players I wouldn’t be surprised if they slapped a £100 + mil price tag on him. And whilst I’m sure CAA Base can help with smoothing negotiations and contract talks I don’t see how they will be able to bring his price down. The time to go for him will be next summer imo. If we need him then.
100% - should be a next summer target if required. Will have 1 year left on his contract by then and being with Base will help us.

Currently we don’t need to upgrade Son and have decent backups. Would prefer a left footed goal scoring wide player which other than Deki is a gap in our squad. Mohammed Kudus would be the one we should target. £40m and can compete with Deki and allow us enough cash to strengthen elsewhere.

I like this guy, but he’ll be mega expensive and in a position where we’re well stocked

makes zero sense
Yeah. Doesn't he only have 2 years left? Maybe see if there's an opportunistic chance in the future. Palace go down, 1 year left on contract, etc.

I really don't think Son is going to be successful as a LW for Ange, and so from a squad-building perspective I think Eze could actually be a perfect signing.

So we bring in Eze primarily to play left wing (which I believe he is perfectly suited for, quite similar stylistically to Jota actually). On the LW we'd then have Eze, Solomon and Perisic, who are all perfect for the role, but also Son if needed.
But Eze would also be perfect cover for both of the '8' roles so this combined with Lo Celso's resurgence would save us from having to invest £50m+ on a player like Gallagher for the role and further bloat the squad.

Son then we convert to playing as a striker, which myself and many others think he is actually far more suited to than he is playing as a winger in Ange's system.
Son's main strengths now are his elite finishing off of either leg and his willingness to run in behind and stretch defence's. This is exactly what Ange want's from his strikers.
Unfortunately the day's of Son skinning players on the wings in 1v1's seems to be over, he is not good at receiving the ball to feet and is not great at working short interplays in triangles. These are all the most crucial traits of an Ange winger.

So by buying Eze and converting Son to striker, we save ourselves having to buy an elite striker and also a rotational '8'.
This then would leave us with plenty money to be able to buy Orban and loan him back out, buy an elite CB like Antonio Silva, and I would hope enough to buy a top RW to compete with Kulusevski.

Think we’re definitely buying a LW and not a striker

With the news this evening of Barca supposedly agreeing terms with Neymar for a potential free transfer or loan and them going back to Cancelo with the view to buying him I do wander if this means we have firmed up our interest in Fati.

Ally Gold has suggested Eze might be our statement signing.

EDIT: Ally Gold thinks that Eze would be the signing he would make if he was the club? I think that’s what people have suggested. Name checked him alongside Orban.

Possibly and also Fati was heavily linked with Arsenal and now that’s all gone quiet so something could be happening perhaps.

If we’ve been getting our ducks in a row for incomings since last weekend then you’d think we could expect 1-2 in hopefully earlyish next week once the ink 🖋️ is dry on the Kane deal.

I’d rather Eze over Fati if similar prices.

I’d like that a lot, really really exciting talented player, thought he was younger than 25 though.

He offers pace and creativity and trickery and real goal threat and could play LW or as an advanced n.o8, like it a lot, far prefer it to Fati.

Would leave us with a lovely array of options.
ST: Richy,Son,Veliz,Scarlett
LW: Eze, Perisic (Son when Richy up top)
RW: Kulu, Solomon
Add Gil to that once he’s fit again.

Then add in Maddison’s creativity and a few goals from Lo Celso,Skipp, Bentancur and Sarr and you’ve got a lot of different attacking threats + Udogie, Reguilon,Royal and Porro when they overlap.
Hodgson fairly coy on the rumours:

Fati would be a crazy gamble imo but I’m sure he will be leaving Barca now. He’d also cost less then Eze for certain. I agree with you, you would think we would have all our ducks in a row ready to go, Levy might not want to spend big but he will know know someone will need to be brought in fast to appease fans. Re Eze, I still just don‘t see CP playing ball on a transfer but I’m sure CAA Base are pushing the idea hard.
