AZ Alkmaar have just one the Dutch title for only the second time in their history. Pretty good going beating PSV and Ajax to the title. Wish something like that would hapen in the Premier League.

They've absolutely caned it this year, don't often watch full games but watch highlights and keep up with the table. They've only conceded 6 goals in 16 games at home, winning 13, and lost only 1 out of 15 away games, not bad at all.

The Dutch league tends to bore me though, the other weekend there was only 13 goals all weekend, in a full list of fixtures.

Still better than the PL this weekend! I don't really watch any Dutch football. Have PSV and Ajax been poor this season? Who are AZ the PL equivalent of? Just wondering how much of a shock it is for them to win the league.

Perhaps the big clubs in Holland have the best players and coaches and they're the ones that bugger off abroad leaving the teams constantly rebuilding?

Isn't Steve Maclarens team sitting in second too.

That's pretty much it. Financially, they just can't compete with the EPL, La Liga, even the Bundesliga, so whilst they're still producing plenty of quality players they can't hang on to them. The great days are long gone, and I really can't see them coming back.
