Otherwise I don't think he can play tomorrow - not seen anything official

I think he`s waiting International clearance, which as long as he gets 1 hour before kick off, he can play.

Still hasn't been confirmed if it was all done before 12, and they need International clearance by 2 tomorrow as well.

Its not a big deal though. he hasn't payed since mid October for Toronto and I'd be amazed if he started tomorrow if all has gone through on time.

In fact I think it would to be our advantage if he did start for them.

It has been confirmed, been on the Sunderland site for a while now, with photos and interviews.

I would say it's a very slim chance it wasn't done before the cut off.

Guess he'll start on the bench and come on in the second half to get the equaliser then

Well if we let him come off the left and shoot with his right foot we deserve to concede.

If anyone knows JD well it's us.

Still unclear if he signed before or after 12 yet, video replay shows Defoe may have moved early in the signing and there for offside and doesn't count!

BBC;

Let's stick with Jermain Defoe, who is expected to make his Sunderland debut tomorrow against... his former club Tottenham.

The Black Cats registered the 32-year-old England striker with the Premier League before today's 12:00 deadline so he is eligible to play at White Hart Lane.

11/4 to score any time.

Train an ex player who always scores on his debut to regain his match fitness to play against Spurs.

Spursy.

Bit of a brain fart there.

Bound to happen. Sort of striker that would cause Fazio problems. Thats if Sunderland get the ball to him, which has been their problem. I very much doubt MLS has honed his ability to take chances. But regardless, we don't know what will happen so no sense worrying about it.

Hmmm may have to place a bet on number of offsides (bookies may not have caught up yet)
