Leicester offer Demarai Gray bumper new contract after rejecting Bournemouth and Tottenham bids
Leicester are offering Demarai Gray a hefty pay-rise in a new contract after rejecting Premier League bids for him.
But many of the Foxes’ other unsettled stars face frustration as City’s Thai owners stick to their massive price tags which are deterring clubs.
Leicester’s mega-wealthy chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha has no financial pressure to sell.
He has batted away bids from Bournemouth and Spurs for England U21 winger Gray.
Now MirrorSport understands Gray is being offered a new contract to hike up his current £25,000-a-week terms.
Gray ‘s representatives Luca Bascherini and Kenny Brady were seen at Leicester’s training ground on Tuesday afternoon for crunch talks to resolve the youngster ‘s future.
But both Bournemouth’s offer of £25m rising to £30m and Spurs’ bid were dismissed out of hand.
FWIW, I personally rate DG highly. Kind of player who will excel very quickly under Poch. Please note, it was a back-up if we never got Zaha, at the end of the season. Why we never went in then would be disclosing too much.
You need to also understand, we do not have the liquid resources to go in early on the whole. We have to wait for prices to drop, and other bidders drop out, or look elsewhere. I got one have been converted, and DL was right. I can hear the BSoDL brigade-itisdeafening.com
Next season we will move early on prime targets. So stop the moaning and get on board the train.
NOTE
Not a done deal, but highly likely!
Poch himself said we need players to challenge the existing first 11 for their places.
If our answer to that is Gray then something's gone seriously wrong somewhere.
I don't care whether it's £30m or £10m. He's not good enough.
He is only 21, there is a fair chance he will get better. He has a high ceiling of potential imo
What exactly are you doing with that other hand? Appreciate the dedication!I'm typing off my phone, as I entertain clients. Please forgive the regular typos.
Typos are always some different excuse with you, Herc! Stick to one!I'm typing off my phone, as I entertain clients. Please forgive the regular typos.
I wonder what world some of you live in, whether you rate Gray or not, when you think that at this time, in this market, when we pay close to the same percentage of our turnover on wages as the mega rich clubs anyway, that it is in any way feasible to sign a ready made attacking midfielder who will improve on any of the regular first teamers (as that is the only way they would improve out first team) when those first teamers include Alli, Eriksen and Son, with Lamela when fit also a regular.
Context: Gylfi Sigurdsson, who is not as good as any of those, has just cost £50m.
To improve the first team, you need to buy someone better than a first teamer. To improve our attack, you have to buy someone better than one of our regular attackers. Last season our regular attackers produced more goals than every other teams' regular attackers.
What we can do is improve on Sissoko and Nkoudou. Now, if we are to improve on them, the cost is still extremely high. So therefore we can spend that extremely high cost, probably circa £30m, on someone who is a bit better than average (as they are currently average), or we can spend it on someone with the potential to become a hell of a lot better than average, and maybe ever bloody fucking good, under our managers guidance.
It's not rocket science people. For fuck sake, you're not morons.
