Its not irrelevant that he looked poor playing in a team where everyone was playing poor to the point where we were in relegation form and the manager got the sack!
So youre saying him looking poor in a poor team to the point where the manager got sacked and then the next manager singled him out and dropped him, publicly slagging him, is irrelevant to his performances?
I disagree.

Even when we were still doing well under Poch this was going on. You're limiting it to either Jose or the final few months under Poch but it's something that, rightly or wrongly, has been talked about since long before that.

Dele has his critics and sure he’s not quite dele from 3 years ago but he’s a serious talent when played in that n.o10 position making runs beyond Kane and linking play in a style of play where we keep lots of possession he causes opponents real problems with his unpredictability, loving this front 4.

Pathetic that SC members are so entrenched in an irrational dislike of one of our best players of the modern era that when he offers a glimmer of improvement he just attracts snide and spiteful remarks asunder.
He played well today.

Still has to be moved on in the summer.

Yes, I quoted the right poster.
Then why were you taking about wanting him gone? Unless I’m struggling to keep up with changes in the English language, I don’t believe anything in my post referred to that or could provide reason to infer any opinion on that from me. All I said was that it’s pathetic that even when he plays all people are piling in to get on his back, so I’m confused why you’d take the time to respond to something I didn’t say.

Strange by whatever makes you happy ?

I kind of understand - but at the same time peak Dele brings a certain flair and joy to the game. I kind of like that in him, as I think we need a bit of infectious confidence.

Peak Dele only happens a few times a season, we've been here before with him many times.

I’ll be ok with whatever decision the next coach makes re Dele. But I enjoyed his performance today and thought it served as a reminder to us all (especially a pessimist like me) that there are some very talented individuals at the club who could thrive once again with high-quality coaching. If the next coach believes in Dele - or there’s just a dearth of serous interest - then I’ll be rooting for him to get back to his best and light up the new stadium the way he did WHL. There’s still talent there, but I question whether there is the character.

I respect your opinion and won’t denigrate it as I get why people might disagree if they can’t remember beyond the last couple of seasons, but if you don’t think what he achieved during his first few seasons with us elevates him above 90% of what we’ve had in the premier league era then I can only assume we watch football for very different reasons.

Which is fine. That’s your choice and you’re entitled to it.

I don't care how good he was today, and he was ok not outstanding, I want him gone in the summer.

He's got a poor attitude behind the scenes and he turned it in under the last manager.

We are in the typical new manager Ali bounce, where he will play well for half a dozen games and then revert to type.

Dele is what he is. I have said countless times on this board. He is a player of moments and will always be. The problem has been recently those moments no longer happen at the rate they once did.

Wolves were pathetic today and that's not his or any other players fault, as we had to take advantage of that and we did, but the problem comes when we want to control games of football against better sides.

You can't carry a second striker when you have two wide wingers against good sides. Yes he came deep today but when we play teams unlike Wolves that can be arsed to put pressure on, Dele will struggle.

It was always my concern with Jose going that certain players would be kept on due to Levy liking them and Dele was the main one with Winks being another.

Spot on. He's just got no place in the side, if we are supposed to be rebuilding, and we go into next season as Alli in the number 10 role or one of the front four, deary me. We really are not learning our lessons...

So a player who has been poor for the last 2 years (some might argue longer) but was decent when he first came should be kept on? Just in case?

Right, ok.
