Dele got his most consistent starts when Son was always on the bench if I remember right. The roles have now reversed and Son is generally one of the first names on the team sheet.

Dele was at his best when son played with him ... Dele, son, moura and kane - this was jose's first name on the teamsheet before injury ...

I think Dele should be played as a winger / forward in a 4-3-3 instead of as a centre midfielder. I know some on here are dead set on him being unable to play as a winger but I think he could be effective there. For me, Dele's at his best when he's able to make deep runs as well as combine with others in the box. He's also a strong header of the ball and could latch onto crosses. As others have mentioned, he’s struggled when he’s had to drop in and create from midfield as that is not his game. For that reason playing him as a CM is not ideal.

People think to play on the left / right in a 4-3-3 you need to be a tricky wide player... this is not true. Mourinho has primarily had our front 3 in a 4-3-3 playing quite narrow with width being provided from our full backs.

With most of our offensive output under Mourinho having come from counter attacking situations, Dele would be effective on the counter coming from the left or right and combining with our other forwards. This is how he has scored a lot of goals for us.

Of course if Dele is playing, we also don't have to utilize a 4-3-3 and he could play as a 10 in a 4-2-3-1 or similar formation. He could also play up top alongside Kane or Son in a 4-4-2. Mourinho is not tactically rigid and will not be sticking to one system all season.

Despite the criticism he's received, he's still our third top goal scorer this season and I think he’ll very much be in the manager’s plans next season.
Not enough pace to play that role

We've been better without him

We're a counter attacking team now. He's an attacking midfielder with average pace.

With Kane (also average paced) in the side, I'm not sure he fits

This is exactly why I would cash in why he still has decent value ! Can’t see we’re he fits this system now! You need quick players for the counter around Kane with this system and dele just isn’t quick enough! He could fight for one the the midfield 3 spots I suppose

He also got exceptional stamina allowing him to join CAs all the way through the game.

I'm not worried about finding a place for Alli when he plays well. He is extremely versatile when he is at his best. I'm more worried about how inconsistent he is - and when he is slightly off his game he just isn't good enough to warrant the amount of playing time he is getting.

I still think he'll get there. I think he has the right mentality, but I'm I guess as most others not as convinced that he just have to become a consistent world class player as I was some years ago.

To be fair a lot of us on here had been calling for Dele to be dropped as he just doesn't seem to fit with what we're trying to do, he slows the play down a lot and isn't as effective recently as some of the other AM's.
He has been injured etc and was covering for Kane up front and the team was all off form so he could defiantly come back next season and be great but personally i'd rather lo celso at n.o10 all day long.

Love dele, but he’s got it all to do to get back in the starting 11. He might like quite a few others fall under the bracket of being sellable for the right price.

A midfield of a DM, LoCelso and Dele has potential. I would love to see Ndombele come good but this is what I expect next season.

In a 25 man squad, a young homegrown attacker with a proven ability to both score and make goals at this level has a place. He may not fit into our plan A system and he may have very frustrating flaws, but there’s a whole bunch of players we should sell before Dele.

Now if he wants to go because he’s not going to play enough, or we choose to raise squad strengthening funds by selling him, that’s another matter, but even at his worst he’s still a game changer and they don’t grow in trees.

I can't tell if our fanbase either doesn't appreciate the benefit of having a strong squad/bench or is deluded enough to think we're going to be able to sign world class stars for all 25 spots.

I'd be tempted to sell him if a crazy offer comes in. Who knows hat happens with Newcastle. If they splash out something around 50m we should cash in.
Dele has his qualities but i am not convinced based on the last two years that he should start so many games for us. His reputation seems to be better than he actually is. The only position I see him work is just behind Kane. And there I could see Son, Lo Celso or hopefully Tanguy some day too. Maybe even Lamela who could be fine to be the sub guy. Don't think Dele is fine with that role.

Not sell at any price but definitley consider good offers that would allow us to invest in quality CDMs or Full backs.

Bit of column A, bit of column B I suspect.

I problem with that is I don't think Dele gets into a Jose starting eleven and I don't think Dele would be happy to sit on the bench and we'd be better off cashing in on an asset if that's the case.
